Welcome to the latest edition of The Fremont Club Experience. Led by President Teresa Hancox, the "usual" unusual goings on at our meeting were present with our rendition of the Frito Bandito song led by Past President Lane Kay in honor of Cinco de Mayo. You had to be there! Meeting Captain Keith West offered a brief thank you to our members for his new friendships and the support he has found within our Club. He loves being in Rotary. We are glad you are with us Keith.

Program:
Hailey Petersen and Robbie Schwartz of Faith Lutheran, along with Ian Ogilvie of Meadows, recently returned for an intense weekend experience at the District 5300 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and were on hand to share their experiences. When asked about their take-aways from the weekend, each had a different perspective. For Hailey it was "how close she got to everyone in her Continent, Asia," considering she's not very outgoing. For Ian he was surprised at "how like-minded people can accomplish anything." Robbie said sitting at new tables for every meal with different students "forced him into awkward social situations, and yet found he was able to interact with kids from different all backgrounds and genders." When asked what they felt they would carry into their adult lives, Hailey said the weekend of self-growth taught her she can't stereotype anyone. Ian said "go in with a great attitude and be victorious, as that attitude will do a lot and allow you to gain the most." And, if you are wondering what a difference the adults make at the program, Robbie said he "didn't know what to expect, but seeing the facilitators buy into it made him want to, as well." Thanks to members PE Michael, PP Lane, Rusty Bridges and Secretary Larry who impacted the lives of our RYLA students along with a few hundred more that weekend and to Youth Services Chair Bonnie Helms for her great work in pulling together our Club's RYLA students.
