With an overflow group on hand, President Teresa Sowers brought the meeting to order with the tap of the bell and proceeded to move through pledge, inspirational moment, and song. She thanked the entire meeting team and asked meeting captain and Immediate Past President Robin Smith to give a short bio about herself. PP Robin is a long time residential Realtor with Keller Williams, and a member of the Club since December, 2009. She has one daughter, Lauren Brizeno, and three grandkids (yes she used the "g" word!) - Blake, Addison & Caprice. Take a moment to sit with PP Robin at the next meeting and get to know a little more about her.

Cross fines were give out with our usual flare for fun - to AG/PP Linda for delivering plastic, screw-top wine from the gas station to PP Robin at her hair appt; to Rob Goldstein for his recent excursion to Africa; to visitor David for frequent sightings by Rob at Tivoli Village (and we will leave it at that, since this was one of those TMI fines) to PP Lane Kay for fumbling names (still); to Pres. Teresa for wearing her crown, which prompted PP Lane's son Sean to ask if his dad had to wear a crown during his presidency; to Sean for his decision to go to ASU vs. UofA.

Francis Gary Powers, Jr. of the Rotary Club of James River in Virginia was accompanied by his son Craig Powers, as they travelled to Las Vegas to share the story of the Cold War Museum currently being built in Virginia. In 1996, fueled by the misinformation about his father Francis Gary Powers' harrowing ordeal after being shot down in his CIA U-2 spy plane over Russia and subsequent imprisonment by the KGB, Gary set out to learn as much as he could about his father's life and the Cold War. Since that time he has made hundreds of presentations to schools and community service organizations, as well as amassed thousands of pieces of memorabilia from that era. Gary hopes to share the history of the Cold War era through education and preservation. Check out their website . Also, make sure to read the brave and extraordinary story of Gary's dad at U-2 Pilot Francis Gary Powers

And, lastly, we have a new Facebook page....check it out and be sure to "like" it!

July Agassi Birthday Bash

July's Birthday Captain Rusty Bridges pulled out all the stops for the Birthday Bash at Agassi Boys and Girls Club last Wednesday.   Nearly 20 kids were on hand to party in celebration of their special day.  Our usual pizza, juice and cupcakes were devoured by the kids and then it was on to pin the tail on the donkey.  One by one the partiers were blindfolded and spun around before each could attempt to "tail" the donkey.  We had four winners, who were treated to one more special cupcake.  And, there was a bit of a dance contest with Rotarians dancing right along side the kids - you might be glad you missed that! In addition to Rusty, President Teresa, Past Presidents Dulcinea Rongavilla and Robin Smith, Asst. Gov./Past Pres. Linda Bertuzzi, and Kevin Wool were on hand, along with Kyrbi Zell who is considering our Club for possible membership.  Next month's party is August 20th.  Don't miss it!
