Thanks to a little pull by Past President Dulcinea Rongavilla (10-11), our members enjoyed a VIP tour of the Mob Museum this past Tuesday.  Located at 300 Stewart in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, The Museum rests inside the historic former Federal courthouse and U.S. Post Office. This building is one of the few remaining historically significant buildings in Las Vegas and is included on both the Nevada and National Registers of Historic Places.  Fact from fiction is exposed and light is shed on of how the Mob came to be, the battles that were fought, and what remains today. The real stories are shared about the Mob's biggest players including Al Capone, Whitey Bulger, Bugsy Siegel, John Gotti and many more. As visitors move through the Museum, they will also be witness to some of the most infamous Mob artifacts, such as the wall from the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and the barber chair where Albert Anastasia was murdered.  A little target practice can be had with the mock Tommy Gun and visitors can experience sitting in a replica of the Sing Sing electric chair.  Through our own mock trail held during the tour, we were able to line up a few questionable characters from our club, which resulted in a very hasty termination of one John McInerney for irreverence and disrespect to President Robin.  The charges didn't seem too serious to the general audience, so there may be some underlying deep, dark secrets they didn't hear about.........hints of the old Mob days.  John's wife, Pat,  looks rather delighted to be pulling the lever, don't you think?

While we didn't observe any family names of our members on the walls of museum, Past Presidents Gary Prater and Albert Guida, Jr. provided a little trivia about our Club's ties to this building.  28+ years ago, when we were being chartered, our downtown Club's post office box was just inside the front door at 300 Stewart.  While our box is no longer there, we were able to capture the bank of boxes that would have adjacent to ours.

Daily tours and membership are available, as well as two free admission days per year.  Make a point to visit this historic landmark and plan three to four hours for your tour.  There are so many exhibits on the three floors, a half day will be advised to take it all in.  Check out their website for more info.

March Agassi Birthday Bash

Past President Scott Stolberg provided the food and entertainment for our March birthday kids at the Agassi Boys and Girls Club.  Several of our February birthdays missed some of the festivities the previous month and were on hand to celebrate.  We were surround by 7, 8 & 9 year olds, with a 16 & 17 year old on hand to enjoy, too.  Our usual pizza and juice, followed by Gigi's Cupcakes gave them just the energy they needed to show off some dance moves and enjoy a game of tag.  They were eager to open their birthday bags, which contained school supplies, dictionaries, a little candy and some games - a gift each month that never disappoints. Thanks to President Robin, Asst. Gov/Past Pres. Linda Bertuzzi and Past President Dulcinea Rongavilla for being there for the festivities.   Next month's party will be on April 16 - one week before the Block Party.  Put your dancing shoes on and join as at Agassi!
