Geneva Center Wooded Path
Trails at Geneva Center
Friends and colleagues,

I saw my first changing foliage on a trip around Indiana this week. The weather still feels like summer, but fall is quickly approaching.

Before you know it.... in just ten days....we'll be gathering at beautiful Geneva Center for our September assembly on Saturday, the 17th, beginning at 9:00 am. I imagine we'll catch a few glimpses of orange and gold as we make our way to Rochester. I envision it will be a time for connecting with one another and God's beautiful creation, a time for connecting with resources that will nourish our congregations and our spirits, and a time for connecting with "God's life giving Word and Spirit which enable the church to live in a new obedience which can open new possibilities of life for society and the world." (from the Belhar Confession, adopted by the PC(USA) at the 222nd General Assembly and also expected to make an appearance at our September assembly.)

I hope you can envision it, too, and that you'll plan to be with us, to discover what's new, what's cherished and familiar, and what connects us with one another as sisters and brothers in Christ.

Traveling mercies,

Jennifer

PRAYERS of the PRESBYTERY
LabCross
God of all creation, thank you for your work, seen in us and through all you have made - from the infinitesimal quark to the infinite cosmos - and everyone in between. You have taught us that by our labors we are known.  But ... without you, our labor is vanity. We ask you to bless our labors and our living; that the evangel, the Good News Jesus delivered, may pervade the worlds you have made, among which we dwell. Bless too those whose labors are lost because of illness and distress. Make the work of restoration to wholeness your blessing and your challenge, and by your Spirit, hear our prayer. Amen.

prayer from Rev. Stanley Kessler, Honorably Retired

Coffee Office Hours begin September 8

Jennifer Burns Lewis, our Visioning and Connecting Leader, is out and about, getting to know congregations and their leaders in our presbytery. Her work is with you, connecting with you, learning from you about your context, and helping you dream about a "future with hope" (thanks, Jeremiah 29:11).

Coffee office hours are just one way to connect the Presbytery of Wabash Valley's parts, in addition to some more familiar venues like Session meetings and commission and presbytery team meetings.
You don't need an appointment for a coffee office hour visit. You can just drop in. She'll even pay for your coffee or tea. If these locations or dates aren't convenient, rest assured that she'll be in other locations on other days in the coming months.

And know that you can always set another time to get together.
