It's week one for me as your Visioning Connecting Leader. I'm so happy to be moved in and almost completely unpacked here in Indiana and I'm delighted to be serving with you.

I'm excited about the possibilities God has in store for us all and for the joy of getting to know and work with this faithful body.

Already my calendar includes lots of meetings and some special services throughout the Presbytery over the weekend. I'll be at the Presbytery office occasionally, but more often I'll be out and about, getting to know you and learning about your communities and ministry settings. I am looking forward to meeting you and growing to know each other well. One of my goals is to worship with each congregation in my first eighteen months of being here, whether for occasions or just a usual service of worship.

I invite you to contact me in any way you feel comfortable. Call me, text me, send me an e-mail, friend me on Facebook. Let's meet for coffee or lunch and try to figure out where we are on the Joshua Journey.

Grace and peace,
Jennifer

Congregational Happenings

Come, Welcome Two New Pastors
Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.                     1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NRSV)

What a joy we share when we ordain and install new pastors to their calls. It is an opportunity for those of us who are members of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley to join in the celebration between a church, a newly called member of the Presbytery and the presence of Almighty God in worship. I urge you as  members of the Presbytery to affirm our connectedness as Presbyterians, and the call of Jesus to encourage one another by attending the ordination and/or installations of our brothers and sisters in faith.
On behalf of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley and

An Opportunity to Serve
Do you have a passion for writing and telling stories?

Would you or someone you know like to partner with the Presbytery as a Regional Associate Editor for God Calls to elicit stories of interest and actions from clusters of congregations in your area? We envision five clusters consisting of approximately 16 congregations in each cluster. You will encourage the sharing of their ministry stories and then forward to Vicki at the presbytery office to include in God Calls and propose actions to Presbytery Assembly that initiate specific actions to live out the Great Ends of the Church.

If you are interested or know someone who is, please forward contact information by August 15th to Vicki@ourpresbytery.org and don't hesitate to call 574-223-5678 with any questions you may have.

 IS GOD CALLING YOU?
We need your input

"Has God been prompting you to dig deeper into understanding your faith walk and/or to take a leadership role in a Presbyterian church? The Presbytery of Wabash Valley is considering offering Commissioned Ruling Elder training. We need to know if members of the Presbytery are interested. If you are interested please contact me, Chuck Compton, chair of Commission on Preparation for Ministry, at 574-967-4877 or chuckcompton@EMBARQMAIL.COM."

Transitional Ministry Education (Interim Pastor Training)

The Synods of Lincoln Trails and Mid-America (MALT) have joined together to provide interim training every spring and fall to pastors nationwide. Transitional Ministry Education is intended for those presently engaged in interim ministry and those inquiring about this ministry. Committee on Ministry members and presbytery staff persons with responsibility for congregations in transition will also find the training helpful. The scheduled transitional ministry education event will be held October 31-November 4, 2016.                   Read More...
RESOURCES
NEW DOWNLOADABLE RESOURCE FOR CONGREGATIONS WHO ARE CONSIDERING CALLING AN EDUCATOR & EDUCATORS CONSIDERING THE CALL

The revised On Calling An Educator manual is now available online in downloadable format.  The manual is designed to be a resource for churches who are considering calling an educator to be a part of the church staff. In addition, this is also a resource for Christian educators who are responding to a call from God to educational ministry in the church and are seeking a position. Congregations and educators will find guidance in these pages for their separate and mutual journeys toward providing the best leadership for the important task of education.

Download the On Calling An Educator manual here or read the PDF online at: https://www.pcusa.org/resource/calling-educational-ministry/.
