from Allen Bol, Central Presbyterian Church Lafayette Photos provided by Allen Bol
The 2016 Presbyterian Youth Triennium was once again held on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana on July 19th-23rd. This year the conference, which is held every 3 years and is aimed at high school youth, hosted around 4,700 participants from all parts of the country.

Wabash Valley 2016 Triennium Participants
|
The Wabash Valley Presbytery had 18 youth attend. Special thanks to Rev. Sarah Bishop (1st Pres, South Bend), Alice Yacullo (1st Pres, Michigan City), and Allen Bol (Central Pres, Lafayette) who served as Adult Advisors. Also Allie Parker (Central Pres, Lafayette) who was a member of the Work-Crew and David Beardmore (Central Pres, Lafayette) who served on the PYT Staff for Special Needs Transportation. Special thanks should also goes to Anna Parkinson and David Lawrence who served as Registrars and organized everything from t-shirts, trading pins, registration, and our kick-off lunch. The theme for this year was "Go!" GO and do likewise, Let My People GO, The great GO-Mission. Each participant was assigned into a small group of around 30 where we got to know and create friendships with others from all parts of the country. In addition to Small Groups, we also met as a

delegation each day to learn more about the theme for the day, play games, and make sure everyone was in tune with the schedule. Worship was also held once a day in the Elliot Hall of Music with a special outdoor candlelight service on Slayter Hill Friday night that also included communion. Each worship service began with a series of "Energizers" to get everyone pumped up and moving as we prepared for worship. Several notable ministers gave a keynote message at each service such as Dr. Rodger Nishioka, Rev. Dr. Steve Wilde, and Rev. Dr. Perryn Rice. The heat, humidity, and the miles and miles of walking could not deter the fun and faith building relationships that each participant will cherish for a lifetime. Plans for Triennium 2019 will be underway soon. It's never too early to start making plans now for what is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many!

You are Invited and Encouraged to Welcome and Celebrate with the Rossville Congregation and the Presbytery for the Ordination and Installation of a new pastor.

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NRSV)
What a joy we share when we ordain and install new pastors to their calls. It is an opportunity for those of us who are members of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley to join in the celebration between a church, a newly called member of the Presbytery and the presence of Almighty God in worship. I urge you as members of the Presbytery to affirm our connectedness as Presbyterians, and the call of Jesus to encourage one another by attending the ordination and/or installations of our brothers and sisters in faith.

PRAYERS of the PRESBYTERY
| | |
Read Matthew 5:43-48
O Lord, remind us, when we turn from you, seek revenge, and hate back those who hate us, that we too often turn from your ways, which are the opposite from ours. Draw us back onto your favor and guide us to do justice and love mercy for your sake and no other reason; through Jesus Christ!
submitted by The Rev. Louis A. Sandos, Honorably Retired
Please pray for.... - Royal Center, Center Presbyterian Church
- Those heading back to school
- Those who suffer in silence

Do you have a passion for writing and telling stories?
Would you or someone you know like to partner with the Presbytery as a Regional Associate Editor for God Calls to elicit stories of interest and actions from clusters of congregations in your area? We envision five clusters consisting of approximately 16 congregations in each cluster. You will encourage the sharing of their ministry stories and then forward to Vicki at the presbytery office to include in God Calls and propose actions to Presbytery Assembly that initiate specific actions to live out the Great Ends of the Church. If you are interested or know someone who is, please forward contact information by August 15th to Vicki@ourpresbytery.org and don't hesitate to call 574-223-5678 with any questions you may have.
|
Are You Being Called?
"Has God been prompting you to dig deeper into understanding your faith walk and/or to take a leadership role in a Presbyterian church? The Presbytery of Wabash Valley is considering offering Commissioned Ruling Elder training. We need to know if members of the Presbytery are interested. If you are interested please contact me, Chuck Compton, chair of Commission on Preparation for Ministry, at 574-967-4877 or chuckcompton@EMBARQMAIL.COM."
