Presbyterians are Connected
from Pastor Lyle Ewing, Auburn Presbyterian Church

For the last twelve years, Lyle Ewing, pastor of the Auburn Presbyterian Church, has been participating with members from Wabash Valley Presbytery and Whitewater Valley Presbytery with mission trips to Mexico.  During the last six years members of both presbyteries have been assisting with VBS and construction at the Rocka Firma Presbyterian Church of Milagro, Mexico.  Eleazar Vela has been serving that church during that time span while also attending seminary.

This past February, Lyle and his wife Teresa had the opportunity to vacation in Mexico with Eleazar, his wife Anna and their daughters Andrea and Esther.  Eleazar graduated from seminary this past fall and on the Sunday Lyle and Teresa were visiting, he was ordained and installed as the pastor of the Rocka Firma Presbyterian Church.

Rev Lyle Ewing, Auburn Presbyterian Church

Lyle was asked if he would like to participate with the Ordination Commission from the Northern Quintana Roo Presbytery.  He didn't hesitate to say yes!  In the picture you will find Lyle giving the ordination prayer for Eleazar.  Lyle wrote out the prayer and said it in English.  Pastor Samuel, from the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church of Cancun, then read the prayer in Spanish.

There was a large attendance present at that evening worship and a meal and fellowship time followed.

As you can see in this picture, Presbyterians truly are members of a connectional church!

PRAYERS of the PRESBYTERY
Merciful Father, teach us to follow your example, so that we are loving when others are condemnatory; so that we offer kindness where others show hate; so that we refrain from speech that is accusatory when others demand the letter of the law; so that we offer grace when others offer a stone! Help us, Lord, to make our world like your World! Amen.

- From TE Louis Sandos, Honorably Retired

Please pray for....
  • Rev. Jonathan and Rev. Amy Cornell and family, The Wabash Presbyterian Church, who continue to heal from a very serious accident.
  • Marshfield United Presbyterian Church, Williamsport  as they continue to serve faithfully.
  • For those who suffer in silence.

Show appreciation for your mom with a gift in her honor

Motherly love is a lasting gift that women give to their children. Around the world, women express this love by striving to provide their children lives free from poverty.

Show gratitude to your mom by helping families overcome poverty through the Women's Empowerment Project featured in the Presbyterian Giving Catalog. This project empowers African women in places like Cameroon where 1,000 donated chickens are affording families a sustainable food source by producing eggs each day, while helping to increase soil fertility. The project is also helping 500 women in the same region increase yam yields by as much as 85 percent by teaching agricultural techniques, producing organic fertilizer and practicing ecologically sound farming.

Your gift today will make a difference in the lives of these mothers and their families and serve as a wonderful tribute to your own mother.

Community Presbyterian Church, 530 Jefferson Street, Rochester
Registration Deadline is Friday, April 15
&
Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 10 am - 4 pm (EDT)
Central Presbyterian Church, 31 N Seventh Street, Lafayette

Ruling Elders, Deacons, Teaching Elders, Sunday School Teachers, Clerk of Session, and other members you are invited and  encouraged to participate in one of the upcoming Boundary & Ethics Training events
sponsored by the Commission on Ministry.

We believe this training better prepares our leaders to understand why misconduct, especially sexual misconduct, occurs among church leadership.   By presenting and discussing healthy, appropriate relationships and boundaries, we believe that it is possible to limit the pain, embarrassment and devastation resulting when leader's cross boundaries related to inappropriate conduct in the Church.  Also, our training event will highlight the need to examine and define our boundaries in areas, such as:  the use of internet and social media and our Presbytery's covenant of closure.

Training materials, snacks and lunch will be provided by the Presbytery.  The event and lunch registration deadlines: April 15 for April 23 event and September 5 for September 13 event, by emailing vicki@ourpresbytery.org or calling the presbytery office - 574-223-5678.

Important: If you are required and unable to attend either of the two dates listed above, you may request a one-year deferral. (Please write a letter to COM with this request).
