Passage to Ponder... Ezekiel 22: 27-28 (NRSV)27 Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain. 28 Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, 'This is what the Sovereign Lord says'-when the Lord has not spoken.

As we make our way through the frigid days of the winter of 2015, we do find ourselves at the mercy of the snow and ice of the season. In the hopes that we are granted favorable weather on Tuesday, February 10th, the leadership team of PWV extends an invitation to all members of congregations to attend a gathering for the opportunity for dialogue about the seven proposed amendments to the Book of Order that were passed by the 221st General Assembly and that will be voted on by our Presbytery on February 24th, at the Stated Meeting of the Presbytery. An additional vote will be taken at our May Assembly on the proposed inclusion of the Belhar Confession to our Book of Confessions.
This gathering will provide an opportunity for engaging discussions about the proposed amendments. We invite to this conversation all Presbyters - congregational members and presbytery assembly commissioners. We frequently find ourselves constricted by the limitations of time at our assemblies, and hope that this additional opportunity for discussion will be advantageous to all of us

making discerned and prayerful decisions about God's work in the Kingdom and our role in carrying out His will for us.
We will be privileged to have the Vice Moderator of the 221st General Assembly, Rev. Larissa Kwong Abazia, with us for the day. Rev. Abazia will be speaking to us regarding the work of the leadership of our denomination and will be able to provide insights into the work of our denomination along with her perspectives on the proposed amendments. This is a rare opportunity to witness the truly connectional nature of the PC(USA.)
In addition to a time of worship and fellowship over lunch, the Revs. David Smook, Presbytery Vice Moderator and Alan Griffin, First Presbyterian Church, Goshen will also be presenting on "The Meaning of Being a Member of the PC(USA.)"
Our plan on February the 10th is to meet at Geneva Center at 10:00 a.m. EST and to aim for a dismissal time of 2:30 p.m. As the time draws closer we will ask for commitments for reservations for lunch. This is not a called meeting of the Presbytery, but rather is a time for conversation among all who are interested in the discussion, whether or not they serve as voting commissioners to the Presbytery.
In Christ,
Jill Kitowski, Presbytery Moderator
