Passage to Ponder - Philippians 1:12-15
"I want you to know, beloved, that what has happened to me has actually helped to spread the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to everyone else that my imprisonment is for Christ; and most of the brothers and sisters, having been made confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, dare to speak the word with greater boldness and without fear." |

Dear Friends,
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus the Christ! I pray this communication finds you well and I give thanks for your continuing to give of your time and your talent in service to our Risen Lord. On February 26th at 10:00 AM (ET) the PWV Assembly will gather for our first Assembly Meeting of 2013. I know that weather this time of year is often a little gloomy and gray and folks may not feel like being out in the cold. I know also that the work of the Presbytery is not always the most glamorous. It is however important work that we will have before us at this Assembly and so I hope as many of you as are safely able, will not only attend but will come with a resolve to be open to the movement and direction of God's Holy Spirit as together we discern what is best for the expression of God's church known as PWV.
Some of the items that will be before us at this Assembly Meeting are:
- Hearing from the Visioning Ministry Team about the Transformation Process PWV will be engaging as a result of the direction of the Assembly at its November meeting
- Discerning whether or not to ratify the Proposed Amendments to the Constitution approved by the 220th General Assembly (2012)
- Hearing from Rebecca Kirkpatrick and Joshua Yoder about their upcoming work as Mission Co-Workers in Egypt.
- Examining an Inquirer under the care of PWV for the move to Candidacy
- Hearing and acting on a report from the Nominating Committee
- Hearing a variety of other updates on the work of our Presbytery
- Perhaps most importantly, worshiping, studying scripture, discerning God's will together, and engaging one another in fellowship beyond our individual congregations
Please remember the recent change in our procedure for distribution of documents for Assemblies and be sure that if you have something to submit to get it to the Stated Clerk no later than the 19th of February.
I pray God's blessings to be upon each of you and look forward to our being together on the 26th.
Grace and peace,
Kevin A. Bowers, PWV Moderator Bethany Presbyterian Church, Lafayette

Prayers of the Presbytery |
Dear Lord, thank you for the leadership that you send as we pray to do your will in our congregations and the presbytery. Though we may find doubt at times, we ask for guidance to welcome change that could be reflected in the midst of what will be right for the future transformation. As the many that will be called upon to incorporate our work together we seek your wisdom as we learn to use the knowledge of all involved for a vision to better serve the Church.
Please hold Rev. Jody Noble, Immanuel Presbyterian Church Schererville, sister, Sue, in prayer for successful healing in follow up knee surgery for injuries suffered in an auto accident about a year ago.
Prayers also are requested for the unspoken needs of individuals we know are always in your care.
We give you thanks and praise O God for MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SOUTH BEND as they have faithfully served your church since July 7, 1870 sharing the good news and reaching out to those in need. In Christ's name we pray, Amen! |
