Outreach Opportunities Gifts for Foster Children Mitten Tree
First U has a wonderful opportunity to bring some Christmas joy to 25 area foster children. The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families has provided us with Christmas wish lists from foster children. Please consider taking responsibility for providing gifts for one or more of these children. The Christmas tree in Bancroft Room has been decorated with cards containing the gift requests. If you would like to help, take a card and then add your name to the list on the membership table.
All gifts are needed by Friday, December 18 in order to be distributed in time Christmas. Gifts should be delivered in gift bags, not wrapped. Staple the list card to the gift bag and place it under the tree by noon on December 18.
If you do not have time or cannot afford to help a specific child, consider donating winter hats, mittens, or gloves. These can be placed directly onto the tree. They will be donated to an area shelter.
Vivian Shortreed will be available after Sunday's service to answer any questions that you may have.

Landers Room - 7:30pm
"Academy Award nominee for best foreign language film in 2005, As it Is in Heaven depicts the story of Daniel, a successful international conductor who returns to his childhood village in Sweden, gets lured into leading the local amateur church choir. Despite some serious tensions in the community, and the minister's suspicions about his motives, Daniel helps the choir grow and develop, even while they help him to find the meaning of life and of love."
To be screened in the Landers Room 7:30pm Thursday, December 10. All are welcome, but especially Choir members who don't know what to do with all these free Thursday evenings. Some subject matter in the film is not suitable for young viewers, so parents should exercise discretion.

"Smiling is the way the soul says hello." Jarod Kintz
Smiling is the signal we are recognized. It is also free and usually painless.
If you have a smile to give, sign up at the Welcome Table to be a greeter on Sunday mornings.
Name Tags are the finishing touch in classy attire. If you have one, look for it on one of the name tag racks or on the Welcome Table. If you need one, stop by after worship.
If you need to stretch your legs during the service, be an usher. They get to walk around and collect the offering while smiling. Again, the Welcome Table.
Do you like nibble on something delectable with your coffee after worship? Most of us do. Please bring refreshments to share. It doesn't have to be fancy.
Finally, before and after the service, seek out someone you haven't spoken to and say hello. It's easy.
