Dear Friends,
On All Souls Sunday November 1st, we will be celebrating Will Sherwood's 30th anniversary as the Director of Music at the First Unitarian Church. Our morning worship service will feature our choir singing excerpts from the great requiems they have performed over the past decades, including Verdi, Mozart, Faure, and Rutter. That afternoon, there will be a 3:00 PM concert of great organ and choral music, featuring Will himself at the organ, our choir, and the excellent Brass Choir of WPI. During a special congregational luncheon that Sunday, we would like to present Will with a cash gift from the congregation as a token of our love and appreciation for his dedicated three decades of musical ministry at First Unitarian. We, in the choir, love Will not only for his exquisite musicianship, but also for his amazing improvisations on the piano and organ, his good cheer and wacky sense of humor, his uncanny ability to coax us to perform consistently above our own musical abilities, his professional skills as a photographer, graphic artist and web designer in publicizing our church and our music, his expertise in maintaining our wonderful Steinway pianos and the Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ, and his deep dedication and countless hours of volunteer work in serving the needs of "the least of these" in the Worcester community. If you have appreciated any or all of Will's countless contributions to our congregation, we want to give you the opportunity to contribute to an anniversary gift for Will. If you are willing and able to help us thank Will in this way, please click here to donate now (enter the amount you wish to donate in the item price box), or send a check, payable to the First Unitarian Church (with the notation "Will Sherwood Gift" in the memo line of the check), to Jennifer Bowes, First Unitarian Church, 90 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Thank you for your generosity in helping us express our love and appreciation for Will, his artistry and his dedication to our congregation and our community. Sincerely yours, Sarah Stewart, Minister Paul Ropp , Chair of the Music Committee
