Adult Faith Development and You

The Faith Development staff and I are in major-planning mode, preparing for the 2016 church year. There are curriculum choices to be made, invitations out for adult volunteers, plans forming for teacher trainings, and evaluation tools to access our current program. In age-appropriate ways, our faith development offerings for children and youth help each to know that "they are lovable beings of infinite worth, imbued with powers of the soul and obligated to use their gifts, talents, and potentials in the service of life".* Our teachers, volunteers, and children/teens develop strong, caring relationships through their consistent classroom and multigenerational engagements.

And what about you? Where and how do you consider questions like: How shall I live my life? What values do I hold and what commitments will I make based on those values? What gives my life meaning? What do I trust? How do I connect with that which is greater than myself? *

How is your spirit cared for outside of worship on Sunday morning?

In part, I hope the answer to this question is HERE--here at church, here with other seekers, friends in faith.

The Adult Faith Development program is based on 4 strands of meaning making:

  • Spiritual development
  • Ethical development
  • Unitarian Universalist identity
  • Faith development

These, along with opportunities to grow relationships of mutual care and joy; to learn and practice justice; to be one's most authentic self in multigenerational learning spaces; and to honor and share one's personal religious journey, are the deep wishes and ultimate goals we, as staff, have as we make decisions about Adult Faith Development offerings.

What are you curious about?  What is your heart, head, hands hungry for? How can we help fulfill your spirit's needs?

We are soliciting now for Adult Faith Development programs for the fall and winter. If you have a specific program, offering, class, group, or need in mind, I would like to hear from you. Let me know the answer to these wonderings of mine. I want to know how this faith community can support you in spirit, in practice, and in your ever-evolving, "wild and precious life". **

With gratitude for infinite possibilities,

Deborah
