Big Day for First U

Sunday, May 3, 2015, is a big day for our community.  Three hundred sixty four days will have passed since we called the Rev. Sarah Stewart to be our minister.

At 4 PM we will begin the installation of Sarah as the 12th settled minister of First Unitarian Church of Worcester. The service of installation has deep roots in our congregational polity. It celebrates the new ministry between the ordained leader and the congregation who calls her. We will celebrate with a special afternoon service and reception.

WE, the membership of First Unitarian, affirm...

This isn't just another opportunity to find inspiration and hear beautiful music, though both will be present.  This will be a ceremony of commitment and an expression of gratitude and hope.  The congregation has an active role to play.  WE, the membership of First U, will affirm Rev. Sarah and the future of our ministry together.

Party time!

The planning committee has been at work for months, considering all possible details, designing and planning an event to remember.  An installation service like this hasn't been witnessed in our church in more than three decades.  We will be sharing stories about this event long into the future.

And, it's not just up to the planners. We are all contributing to make this event a success. You can signup online or on the mobile bulletin board in the dining room.

Come one, come all!

Invitations have been sent to members and friends, to the larger Worcester community, and to the larger Unitarian Universalist Association.  Our installation ceremonies signal our thriving congregational life, the energy of downtown Worcester, and the living tradition of our larger denomination.

We all have a part on Sunday May 3, and I look forward to celebrating it with you.
