She also attributes the Rittenhouse Women's Wellness Center as embracing the philosophy of wellness, in that we offer health services: from internal medicine and gynecology to nutrition and skin care, and our newly added service IV Nutrient Therapy.

July 28th is World Hepatitis Day, created to raise understanding and awareness of what viral hepatitis is and what can be done about it.
Viral hepatitis is a term referring to any of several infections that attack your liver and cause damage to its' cellular structure. The viruses we usually refer to when discussing viral hepatitis are: Hepatitis A, B, C, Delta and E. There are, however, other viruses that cause liver inflammation and, reversely, these five viruses can also cause damage and symptoms outside of the liver.

July is national ice cream month! As temperatures heat up, many of us are looking forward to cooling down with a summer treat. When you head to the frozen section of the grocery store - you may get brain freeze just looking at all the new and different options out there... light, low fat, slow churned, coconut milk, Greek yogurt... the list goes on. The good news is you can have your ice cream and eat it too - remember, it is how much and how often you enjoy ice cream that can become problematic.

We know so much about our patients and we love to see familiar faces (although preferably for well-visits), but do you ever wonder about who is helping you book your follow-ups or draw your blood? If you do want to know more about our team, we are introducing a new 'Meet the staff' section! We hope that getting a little more familiar with the people you see in our office will make you more comfortable and confident with the care you receive through us. |

1) What does 'wellness' mean to you?
Wellness means the proactive pursuit of maintaining and improving my health by managing potential health risks, remaining active and fit through diet and exercise, accessing preventive health care, and staying abreast of current medical issues and concerns that affect me.
2) How do you feel about healthcare in the U.S. and your role within the system?
Healthcare in the US has both strengths and weaknesses. The US has exceptional medical skill and technology but unequal access to those services,. My current role within the system is to support advancements in access equality and to maintain my own wellness to minimize the costs of my healthcare on the healthcare system.
3) What health advice do you promote to your family?
My family shares my interest in remaining fit and active and minimizing potential health risks. I also try to encourage accessing preventive care.
4) Are there any lifestyle changes that have positively or negatively affected your health?
My increased awareness regarding fitness and wellness have helped me to make better choices in daily living. I have become more aware and cautious about the foods that I eat. I began thinking of food as fuel for my body which helped encourage me to make healthier choices.
5) What activities do you participate in? What do you you do to help you feel healthy?
I have been exercising and watching my diet. I enjoying going to the gym a few times a week but I also enjoy taking small walks throughout my day. I also recently had an annual physical. I also try to avoid risky behaviors such as smoking, drinking, and eating "junk" food.
6) What advice do you have for patients seeking to optimize their health? Take an active role in your health care and increase your knowledge regarding your physical well-being and ways that you can improve it!
