TODAY'S BUZZ: BEE POLLEN!

Live longer, be stronger, reverse aging, boost your metabolism, normalize cholesterol, dissolve fat, boost your immune system, improve your digestion - all with one of nature's most perfect foods: bee pollen.
No wonder the Greeks and Romans called bee pollen "the life-giving dust" or the secret "ambrosia" eaten to acquire eternal youth. Bee pollen also has natural rejuvenating powers, aids bee-auty, boosts energy and fights allergies (and cancer too, according to some studies).
Stronger and Taller? How much does bee pollen boost your strength? Studies done by the British Sports Council recorded increases in strength by as much as 40% to 50% in athletes who consumed bee pollen regularly. The British Royal society has even reported height increases in adults who regularly take bee pollen! Supreme Protein Source Lots of foods claim to be high in protein, so I will give you some direct comparisons here: bee pollen is more rich in proteins than any animal source. It contains more amino acids per ounce than beef, eggs or cheese - What?! And pollen is in a form that is easy to assimilate, making it one of the most bioavailable forms of protein available.
Nature's Remedy? Many people report using bee pollen to successfully reduce or eliminate: asthma, indigestion, allergies, constipation, colitis, anemia, low energy and fatigue, depression, acne, sexual dysfunction, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, heart challenges and prostate problems. It also helps boost immune system function.
Bee pollen is also rich in active enzymes, has high antioxidant levels, is a potent aphrodisiac, a source of 18 vitamins including most B vitamins, C, D, E and more, contains all 22 essential amino acids, 14 fatty acids (including essential fatty acids), and there are still components in bee pollen science has yet to identify - now THAT'S NUTRITION! What I can tell you from personal experience is bee pollen is delicious and I feel great when I eat it regularly. Sometimes I even crave it. I eat it straight out of the jar, sprinkle it on my granola-type breakfast, make superfood chocolate infused with bee pollen, this evening I made my Magic Maca Chocolate Morsels with bee pollen, and most often I add it to my Green Goddess Morning Elixir. Consume Consciously Bee pollen may not be for everyone. If you have allergic reactions to insect stings, start with one or two granules to be sure you can comfortably consume it. Also, because bee pollen is so high in nutrients - higher than many people are accustomed to having at one time, I recommend starting with smaller amounts and increasing your consumption over time. You can safely work up to one to three Tablespoons or more per day.
Get the Good Stuff! Bee sure you have good quality pollen. Here is a simple test: put some granules in a bottle of water and shake. If the pollen floats it is rancid - best find a new supply. I recommend buying pollen refrigerated and keeping it in your refrigerator. Our favorite brand is Y.S. Farms - the only certified organic pollen we have found so far. You will find it in Whole Food's Whole Body section - in the refrigerated case.
Try some bee pollen in your next smoothie or straight from the jar. Have it regularly for a few weeks and see what the buzz is about. =)

 I practice yoga to...
to keep the kinks out of my spine and correct my posture. In the last 4 years, I've even become an entire inch taller. Moreover, to stimulate and to facilitate my endocrine, lymphatic, and digestive systems function. Having already passed through the fire of cancer and its treatment, I work hard to stay healthy from the inside out!

What I love most about Austin is... the priceless people such a paradise attracts! My New Year's Resolutions for 2013 are... stay relaxed all through the day and read more books. My top 3 yoga tips to PURE Students are... 1. breathe in through your nose, out through your nose. 2. inhale and exhale through your nose. 3. please breathe in and out of your nose. My favorite hydration method is... a tall-boy of ice cold coconut water, T.A.S. brand preferred! 
My favorite healthy meal is... tom kha (thai coconut) soup! Things I avoid are...
lazy, slovenly, unambitious people,
gloomy weather,
cigarette smoke.
My favorite yoga clothing is...
historically a Shakti Brazilian shorts favorer--I'm now a Onzie man! I just bought my third pair, basic black, but nothing compares to my Jolly Rogers (skull and cross bones)!

2nd part awkward (because I'm so awesome at it), standing bow pulling, triangle, toe stand, hand stand, savasana.

My advice to PURE Challengers is... talk yourself into it, not out of it. Just make your feet get you through the front door, our staff and teachers will take it from there. We will help and encourage you. Showing up is at least half the battle! We want success for you and your life!
