IndustryNewsWINDOWS XP HAS BEEN RETIRED
Ensure the safety of your data
As of April 8th, Microsoft has retired Windows XP and will no longer be supporting it, putting the operating system at risk for hacking. If you are running FaciliWorks Desktop version 7 or earlier, this could disrupt or halt your FaciliWorks Desktop functionality and put the integrity of your data at risk.

For more information from Microsoft about the retirement of Windows XP, please click here.

USA Today has also released some helpful information about the XP retirement; click here to read the article.

Contact us today to upgrade your FaciliWorks software to the latest version that is compatible with current operating systems to ensure the safety of your data.

FaciliWorks 8i: Hyperlink to External Documentation
Many of our FaciliWorks 8i administrative-level users include attached documentation (.pdf, .xlx, .rtf, etc.) as part of the procedures they create. They do this so that they don't have to retype predefined information into FaciliWorks, when it already exists in some other file format outside the application. Did you know that those attachments are written to the FaciliWorks database?

Other users prefer to use hyperlinks to external documentation. There are two major reasons to use hyperlinks (to external sources) within the text area of the Procedure form rather than attaching document files:
  1. Ensure that over time, the database doesn't become bloated with thousands of attached documents.

  2. Ensure that FaciliWorks 8i is not used for document control, but rather provides a link to an intranet/internet location that maintains document control revisions.

Services such as SharePoint allow administrators to list a static web hyperlink within the FaciliWorks 8i Procedure area, while allowing the external service to manage any document revisions that occur over time.

Additionally, some administrator-level users simply provide hyperlinks to external manufacturer websites, to include work instructions that ensure warranty requirements.

IS NOW AVAILABLE
Greate new features make
upgrading to the new
version of FaciliWorks 8i
a no-brainer!

FaciliWorks 8i now delivers enhanced reporting capabilities, warranty tracking, user-defined report favorites, rich text editing and much more.

The new Enhanced Reports feature includes:
  • Viewing in PDF or HTML
  • An optimized columnar format for easy export and data manipulation outside FaciliWorks (i.e., Excel)
  • Report viewing in a separate browser window, so multiple reports can be open at once for easy reference
  • Report favorites are stored on the dashboard for quick access
  • Reports no longer require the BART tool or local client installs
The new warranty tracking feature lets you know when your assets are in or out of warranty (or have a current or expired maintenance agreement), so that the appropriate technician or outside contractor can be contacted for corrective work orders.

This new version of FaciliWorks 8i will run on any Web browser on any PC, smartphone, iPad (up to and including iOS7) and Android tablet, so you can manage your maintenance department from anywhere.

For more details about all of the new features and enhancements, please click here.
