The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation invites proposals for the Health Policy Fellows Program, a comprehensive fellowship experience focused on health science, policy and politics in Washington, D.C. Up to six grants of up to $165,000 will be made. Eligibility is restricted to individuals from institutions of higher education and nonprofit organizations.

Healthcare Safety Projects | |
Deadline: December 7, 2012
The Cardinal Health Foundation's E3 Grant Program supports projects developed by nonprofit healthcare institutions throughout the United States that help healthcare providers implement best practices that can truly transform patient care. Approximately 25 grants between $15,000 and $35,000 will be awarded for projects that address one of the following two areas: medication safety, especially at transitions across the continuum of care from the hospital to home/ambulatory settings; and operating room safety through effectively implementing WHO surgical checklists.

Fiskars' Project Orange Thumb provides tools, materials, and other support to help communities reach their goals for neighborhood beautification, community collaboration, and healthy, sustainable food sources. Ten recipients will receive $5,000 in cash and tools, and one applicant will receive a complete garden makeover.

Native American Youth Sports | |
Deadline: November 15, 2012
The N7 Fund, an initiative of Nike, is committed to bringing sport and all of its benefits to Native American and Aboriginal communities in the U.S. and Canada. The N7 Fund offers grants to nonprofit organizations that provide sports and physical activity programs for Native American and Aboriginal youth of high school age or younger. Grants of up to $50,000 are provided. To be considered for funding, grant applicants must have a measurement of success for their programs.

Latino Arts & Artists | |

The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures provides a variety of grants to assist US-based Latino artists and arts organizations in the development, creation, presentation and sustainability of artistic excellence, as well as the opportunity to participate in activities that contribute to professional and organizational growth. The NFA is a national grant program open to US-based Latino working artists, ensembles and small to mid-sized Latino arts organizations that demonstrate artistic excellence in pursuit of social justice through the arts. To apply, you must be a member of NALAC. Grants range from $1,000 to $20,000.

Prize for Archaeological Outreach Efforts | |

The School for Advanced Research has joined in a Consortium of Southwest Research Centers (CSRC) to offer an annual prize for an outstanding public education or outreach program that brings archaeological knowledge about the past to inform issues and problems of the present. The award seeks to stimulate innovative archaeological and historical scholarship that is relevant to issues of contemporary concern. The prize carries a cash award of $5,000 and will be announced each year at the annual meeting of the Society for American Archaeology. This competition is open to all Society for American Archaeology members and organizations that support the work of SAA members.

Collectible/Antique Vehicles & Boats Outreach | |

The foundation will consider funding programmatic and capital projects within one of its primary areas of interest: education, preservation, and safety. Three types of funding are available. Special opportunity grants range from $500 to $1,000, and support clubs, museums, and libraries to take advantage of opportunities and/or needs outside of their normal operating budget. Major grants, ranging from $2,500 to $10,000, fund special initiatives and projects for clubs, museums, libraries, and educational institutions. Multi-year initiatives award up to $100,000, usually in the form of a challenge grant, to an organization or institution involved in historic preservation and/or education.

This program supports U.S. artists, curators, presenters and nonprofit arts organizations undertaking projects in Central Europe, Russia and Eurasia. Support is provided to create new work that draws inspiration from interaction with artists and the community in the country visited; establish mutually beneficial exchange of ideal and expertise between artists, arts organizations, and the local community; and pursue artistic cooperation that will enrich creative or professional development, or has potential to expand the community's access to the art of other cultures. Grants of up to $10,000 will be made.

The Foundation will consider requests to support museums, cultural, and performing arts programs; schools, hospitals, educational and skills training programs, programs for youth, seniors, and the handicapped; environmental and wildlife protection activities; and other community-based organizations and their programs. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $20,000.

The Comerica Charitable Foundation, a company-sponsored foundation, makes grants in several areas including education, such as financial literacy programs for K-12 and adults, and scholarships for students with income needs for studies in business, finance and growth industries. Grant amounts vary, with an average grant amount of around $8,000.

An app competition, the College Knowledge Challenge is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Thirty grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded to support the creation of free and low-cost Facebook applications that make the college-going process more transparent, collaborative, and easier to navigate for low-income and first-generation students.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will make grants of up to $10,000 for innovative programs or non-degree research projects that promote education and equity for women. The mission of the Grants & Nonprofit Information Center is to provide information resources for nonprofit and community organizations to assist them in fulfilling their missions. You can visit us on the 3rd floor of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library in downtown Tucson.
