Dear SMC Executive Committee and Mayors' Advisory Council,
|
Check out our monthly sampling of news, resources, events and other items from across the sustainability spectrum in Maryland.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
The deadline for 2014 Sustainable Maryland Certified (SMC) applications is Monday, June 30. Green Teams in communities that expect to apply for certification this year should make sure they are familiar with the process of online submission. SMC will offer webinars this spring on the submission process. Communities wishing to pursue certification in 2014 should register with SMC ASAP.
Congratulations to the SMC-certified Town of Berlin (Worcester County), which was recently voted "Coolest Small Town in America." Many of Berlin's "cool" attributes are also "green": local farmers market, annual Peach Festival, strong local business district, tree planting programs, town-wide litter clean-ups and other initiatives that give Berlin the strong sense of place that is evident to both residents and visitors alike.
