M. Alison Kibler discusses her book Censoring Racial Ridicule: Irish, Jewish and African American Struggles over Race and Representation, 1890-1930, examining how ethnic groups at the turn of the 20th century confronted what's now known as hate speech.

Lesbian author and activist Sarah Schulman and Kait Heacock of the Feminist Press discuss Schulman's evocative new novel The Cosmopolitans and the publisher's launch of the Corrective Canon initiative, aimed at broadening the scope of modern literature.

Republican Showdown in Kansas City
Staged in partnership with the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas, this exhibit features photographs, video, and other artifacts from the nation's last contested political convention - the 1976 Republican National Convention held in Kansas City.

The political poster has evolved from marketing tool to art and a place in America's cultural history. Sign of the Times: The Great American Political Poster, 1844-2012 showcases a sampling of rare, beautiful posters from the past 170 years.
