Wired magazine's Fred Vogelstein discusses his book on the high-tech, high-stakes struggle between Apple and Google, which have steamrolled their competition while battling each other not only in the marketplace but also in the courts.

The Age of the Vikings - Anders Winroth
Yes, the Vikings pillaged, looted, and enslaved. But Yale University historian Anders Winroth adds depth to their identity in a discussion of his new book, noting that the Norse seafarers were explorers as well as raiders, settled peacefully, and developed a vast trading network.

Marmots on My Mind - Kenneth Armitage
Kenneth Armitage, an emeritus professor of behavioral ecology at the University of Kansas, knows more about the furry star of Groundhog Day than perhaps anyone. On its eve, he discusses the cultural influences of this unique celebration and offers insight into the marmot's real life.

Dramatic Story Time: Anansi and the Talking Melon - Coterie Theatre

Dick Berkley: A Mayor, A Camera, A Life in Pictures
As mayor of Kansas City and as a prolific amateur photographer, Richard Berkley knew both sides of the camera lens. This new exhibit features dozens of shots from his personal collection, some taken by him, others featuring him with local, national and international luminaries.

Justice Postponed Is Justice Denied: Lucile Bluford and the Campaign for Educational Equality
Lucile Bluford - for whom the Library's L.H. Bluford Branch is named - played a key role in the eventual elimination of the country's "separate but equal" doctrine in education. This exhibit chronicles that legal struggle and a life in which she also distinguished herself as a journalist.

Cowtown: History of the Kansas City Stockyards
For more than a century the Kansas City Stockyards fed a hungry nation. This new exhibit features a historical treasure trove of photographs, blueprints, maps, drawings, and documents celebrating the city's great economic engine.
