Jason Pollen Presents
Internationally recognized textile artist, designer, and teacher Jason Pollen - who has made Kansas City his home since 1983 - discusses his life and career here in conjunction with an exhibit of his work, Unfurled, now on display at the Library's Guldner Gallery.

Rebel Souls: Walt Whitman and America's First Bohemians - Justin Martin
Author Justin Martin discusses his book about the wild, decadent, and incredibly influential band of artists - including poet Walt Whitman - who hung out at Pfaff's saloon in New York City in the 1850s and were considered the country's original Bohemians.

The Battle of Westport: Culmination of the Border War - Terry Beckenbaugh
On the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Westport, Terry Beckenbaugh of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College examines the defeat that sent Confederate Gen. Sterling Price into retreat and signaled the end of rebels' conventional military presence in Missouri.

The renowned Native American artist and storyteller known as Black Pinto Horse talks about his artwork, how it has empowered him as an adult, and how it made him a successful student in his younger years. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Kansas City Kids FilmFest
This all-day family event screens award-winning shorts and a free family feature and offers interactive filmmaking workshops on important storytelling principles. Making a special appearance is Hallmark Cards artist and head of character development Pedro Martin.

Jason Pollen: Unfurled
Internationally renowned textile artist Jason Pollen has made Kansas City his home since 1983. This exhibit of his work, some on public display for the first time, celebrates that three-decade (and counting) chapter of his career.
A second part of the exhibit will open at the Library on November 9, 2014.

Cowtown: History of the Kansas City Stockyards
For more than a century the Kansas City Stockyards fed a hungry nation. This new exhibit features a historical treasure trove of photographs, blueprints, maps, drawings, and documents celebrating the city's great economic engine.
