Editors Jonathan Earle and Diane Mutti Burke and three fellow historians who contributed to their book -- Kristen Oertel, Jeremy Neely, and Jennifer Weber -- discuss the era of Bleeding Kansas, its overall impact on the Civil War, and the lasting divisiveness it spawned..

Chicana writer Norma Cantú discusses her new book Canicula: Snapshots of a Girlhood en la Frontera, in which she chronicles life on the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Sunflower Ordnance Works - Anne Jones, Matt Gilligan
The Johnson County Museum's Anne Jones and Matt Gilligan look at how 10,000 acres of farmland outside Kansas City became the world's largest producer of rocket propellant and an essential part of America's "Arsenal of Democracy" during World War II.

This exhibit by New York artist Glen Hansen features drawings and paintings inspired by the details and ornamentation of Kansas City's downtown architecture.

Bittersweet Harvest

This bilingual exhibit examines the experiences of Mexican workers who between 1942 and 1964 participated in the U.S. government's bracero program, the largest guest-worker program in American history.

Guerrillas in Our Midst

This original exhibit from the Library's Missouri Valley Special Collections employs vintage photographs and illustrations to tell the story of the border conflict that raged between Missouri and Kansas before, during, and after the

New Compositions - The Dance Portraiture of Orval Hixon

This exhibit highlights the local legend's rich selection of photographic portraits, including images of some of the best-known dancers of his time.
