Noted economist Mark Skousen examines this Founding Father's business sense, summed up in Franklin's perennial classic The Way to Wealth, often considered America's first "rags to riches" account.

The Politics of War - Terry Beckenbaugh
Historian Terry Beckenbaugh of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth explains the effect politics had on the Civil War and discusses the issues and ideologies that drove debate.

Throughout November, the Library and Turn the Page KC encourage families to spend at least one hour each week reading aloud to one another. Pick up a reading log at any Library location and return it to be entered into a drawing for prizes.

Session #3
This six-week series taught by representatives from Truman Medical Centers focuses on living with chronic health problems including heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and arthritis.

Why I Love My Library Awards Ceremony
Students from the Kansas City Public Schools are honored for their submissions to the 2012 Why I Love My Library contest. Winners take home free books as prizes.

Read It / Watch It - Great Expectations (1997)
This modern-dress version starring Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert DeNiro, and Chris Cooper is the centerpiece of a Read It / Watch It discussion group. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to read the source novel before attending the film screening.

13th Annual Kansas City Storytelling Celebration
The Kansas City Library hosts two days of events as part of the 13th Annual Kansas City Storytelling Celebration. Featured storytellers include: Michael McCarty, Megan Hicks, Angela Lloyd, and Nancee and Mike Micham, whose subjects will range from historical to multicultural.

Friday Night Family Fun welcomes regional storytellers Rosie Cutrer and Marilyn Kinsella for an evening of animated stories and folk music.

Health and Wellness Fair
The Kansas City Public Library and Truman Medical Centers host a free monthly health fair aimed at answering a wide variety of questions on topics from exercise to healthy weight. This month features free glucose testing as well as vision screenings courtesy of the Lion's Club.

Dramatic Story Time -
Coterie Theatre
Coterie Theatre artists read from their favorite children's books while the audience enjoys an opportunity to "jump into the story" on stage. This program is appropriate for all ages.

An original exhibit exploring Kansas City's baseball heritage - from company-sponsored teams of the post-Civil War era, through the rise of professional teams, to Kansas City's emergence as a "major league" city.
