A majority of dental insurance policies renew January 1st. 
When your dental insurance renews you lose any of your  remaining benefit money, it does not roll into the next year. 
If you have any dental work that needs to be addressed  it may make sense for you to schedule the appointment this year to utilize your insurance money.
