Tiki Pool and Spa
| | By Heather Swick, Morton Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Writer
A tropical oasis should be a fun, colorful retreat. Nancy Aupperle, Tiki Pool and Spa proprietor, makes sure the new shop in the former Aquatech building, located at 106 Penn Street in Morton, is just that. A tiki motif, a passionate staff and a concrete floor stained "Caribbean Blue" make for a pool and spa experience unique to Morton. "We have a lot of fun," Nancy said. Morton Community Foundation News
by Scott Witzig
| | Thursday, April 24, the Morton Community Foundation hosted our annual Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event at Bertha Frank Performing Arts Center. The event was used as the platform for announcing our annual grant recipients. Announcements were made of recipients of over $34,000 in grants from our 2014 competitive grant cycle.
This year, the Foundation received 29 grant applications, and those requests totaled over $100,000. The grant review committee was made up of representatives from: School District 709, Village of Morton, Morton Township, Morton Park District, Morton Library, Morton Chamber of Commerce, two at-large community representatives, two students from Morton High School, and three Morton Community Foundation representatives. It was this committee that had the difficult job of prioritizing all the requests and determining which would be funded, and to what extent... a difficult task, as all of the requests were worthwhile, even if they don't prioritize as highly as another.
