Chamber Supports Independent Maps
| | |
2,0000 Signature Goal Set
The Morton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently voted to support the Independent Maps initiative, currently underway in Illinois. The initiative seeks to change the process of how legislative districts are drawn through the establishment of an independent commission, similar to the system used in Iowa and many other states. In order to make this change, a coalition of groups throughout the state have come together to gather signatures that would allow citizens to vote on this constitutional change next November. The Morton Chamber has set a goal of collecting at least 2,000 signatures by April 1st for this initiative. If you would like to sign a petition and/or collect signatures for this initiative, please contact Jennifer Daly at jdaly@mortonillinois.org. More Information
