Farewell Jenny ~
The Board of Directors would like to wish a fond farewell to Jennifer Morningstar, SCRAP's Program Coordinator.
Her level of performance, professionalism and dedication has set the
bar higher for our organization.
Jenny leaves SCRAP to continue her studies at the esteemed Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, DC. She has chosen to further her education by beginning her Master of Arts studies in Exhibition Design.
At SCRAP Jenny combined her eye for fine art with our reuse model while always having an insight that brings in the human element. Jenny's knowledge of art exemplifies excellence she has become an idol to her colleagues. The board appreciates her efforts at SCRAP and wishes her the best in the future. Thank You Jenny!

Dear SCRAP family,
Thank you all for the outpouring of support and understanding as SCRAP undergoes some much needed changes. It's so heartwarming to know that SCRAP has positively impacted so many lives and that our community is with us as we go through some of our "growing pains".
Speaking of our changes, please take note of our new donation and pricing policies. And this week, we're saying farewell to our Program Coordinator, Jenny Morningstar, who is off to her graduate program in Exhibition Design in Washington DC.
Jenny has been so instrumental to SCRAP's growth and programming. As part of her last days at SCRAP, she designed this newsletter, coordinated all the workshops that you see below, coordinated a bagshare sew-in, helped us plan for our large August Teacher Giveaway, and wrapped up this year's amazing Art Exhibition.
Bon Voyage, Jenny, and best wishes for everything in DC!
Shuai Chen,
SCRAP Executive Director

Mosaic Mandalas w/ Jane Schafgans
Saturday, Sept 13th 10am - 4pm
Sunday, Sept 14th 11am - 1pm fee: $80
Mandalas are everywhere. "The circle with a center" pattern is a basic structure of creation that is reflected in much of the natural world, and recognized for it's spiritual meaning and representation of wholeness. In this workshop Jane will lead participants in an exploration and creation of the mandala pattern in mosaics using a variety of ceramic and glass tile, and other personal items such as jewelry. For some this may be the first time working with making a mosaic, for others, it is an opportunity to try out some new ideas and gain more experience working in this wonderful medium. Participants are welcome to bring personal materials to include in their mandalas, and will be given a chance to treasure hunt in SCRAP for inspiration as well. On Saturday Jane will go over techniques and uses of materials as participants create their mosaic mandalas. Sunday the mosaics will be grouted and finished.Click here to register.
