Board Report |
During the summer months as folks disperse for summer holidays, the Board will meet in July. Among other items, we will review and discuss plans for a fall "friend-raiser" event at the depot as well as a donor appreciation event.
|
It is gratifying to know that SCRAP attracts all types and ages of people to its programs and workshops, its teacher giveaways and our capability to recover, display and sell so many different types of discarded yet reusable materials. We like to think that our planet thanks us too! Happy Summer Everyone!

Greetings!
July at SCRAP is packed with creative workshops: for kids, for educators and for the general public. Come learn a new skill, make some new friends and find some materials that inspire you. What I love about SCRAP workshops is that we have professional artists teaching a skill or project, but then the participants get to go out on the floor to explore and find things that inspire them. You never know what someone will find to make their fascinator, their board game or their sculpture just that much more special.
In fact, that's what I love about the whole SCRAP warehouse. There are new donations every day and you never know what you'll find to inspire you. I've used microfiche for raindrops, bike inner tubes for jewelry, and paint sample chips for a mural. We've heard stories of tiny scraps of fabric being transformed into dresses for little girls in Africa, of photos and National Geographics being collaged for art therapy, of boxes and toys turned into Nevelson boxes by fourth graders, and foam core transformed into a miniature golf parklet. We'd love to hear more of your stories. Please keep sharing, via facebook, via yelp, on site, and via email. Have an inspiring July, Shuai Chen SCRAP Executive Directorschen@scrap-sf.org
