eBay Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter
Sunday Morning
October 2, 2016
This past week I sympathized with all those people who have some old Scouting stuff but struggle to figure out what it's worth.  I sorted and scanned almost three hundred 1940s-50s-60s era activity patches (many of them made of felt). But for me this is the beauty of the eBay auction platform.  So I have a 1940s felt cap staff patch.  It might sell for $10 or it might sell for $500.  I'll run it for 7 days and roll the dice!
Vintage Scouting Auctions Live on eBay
I get emails every day from my antique mall booth in Florence, SC when items sell.  If I'm doing good about once a month somebody will go in and drop $100 or more purchasing items.  Yesterday a Scout collector who is traveling around with his RV and was coming South asked about addresses and times so he could see what I've got.  I pointed him to this website which has all the details www.SanteeswapperStore.com.
Order of the Arrow Auctions Looking Good
I smile every time I remember that this coming week is the Columbus, TOR that I'll be attending.  When my lovely wife remembers I don't think it's a smile that I see.  So it looks like I better takes some items to sell if I'm going to come home with a positive number in the checkbook.  I hope to see many of the Hot Finds readers there.
Auctions Ending Soon With Bids on eBay
Part of the anticipation of the trip to the TOR is I'm going to ride with Chris Jensen, Matt Delk and some other collectors on the inaugural trip of the new Streamwood patch trading bus. Chris recently purchased a replacement for his now retired BART (Big A** Red Truck) and we are helping him break it in on the first trip.

In this block I've been featuring many of the live auctions that I've been running as I return to a full time eBay schedule.  My live auctions currently feature about four different batches that are up for bids.  I've got two different consignments, some items from a North Carolina OA lodge and now a start on really vintage activity patches.  You can see what I've got ending today by clicking this link.
Even thought we've moved away to a new council my daughter is going to rendezvous with our old troop for a really neat event that the Raleigh Girl Scout council puts on.  The Teen Camporee at Camp Mushani in Moore County has around 200 Scouts camping out and going through lots of events that would put a smile on your face.  One of the treats is a cook off Saturday night where everybody eats round-robin and an award goes to the best cooks. Last year our soup didn't win first prize but it was a hit judging by the people who came back for 2nds.
