Whether it was an estate sale find or some other digging the seller that has this sash listed is probably smiling all the way to the bank today. Ending in a few hours on eBay this might be the best pure merit badge sash that I've seen in 2016. As you can see the front is loaded with squares but it keeps going! Flip the thing over and there are more squares and a bunch of wide crimped merit badges from the mid-1930s. The Eagle palms are also globbed on the back - this was one busy Scout! Since the time I spotted and posted about this on Facebook the bidding and price has tripled. Could this be a $3000 sash or more? I guess we will find out. I don't have that kind of money to throw at needs but I can tell you that since beginning a MB collection a few years back MANY of my needs are on here. Click and enjoy today's Hot Finds.
Vintage eBay Boy Scout Auctions This Weekend
The interesting looking medal pictured below is a UK issue from 1929. As that was the year of the World Jamboree there might be some interest from the readers in checking it out. The Air Scouts patch on the sash listed below is just a Tenderfoot Candidate patch - no reason for excitement.
I posted about the Okefenokee CSP on the Facebook group because as an old southern collector it really stands out. How many of you know what lodge that black felt patch pictured below is from without clicking over to cheat? Don't worry I didn't either - sometimes there is no replacement for knowledge in this hobby because no amount of clicking on websites would have told you what that patch was..
Yesterday in the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group I posted this patch as a whatzit and didn't get any confirmation. I'm sharing it hear in case one of the readers can identify it. The letters read BSA and yes that is one ugly wolf (I think?). Let me know if you have a good notion what this patch is - she is felt about 3.5 inch diameter. It was in a notebook with other felt patches from the 1950s but that doesn't mean it came from a collection - rather this was stuff I got from another dealer.
Today is the last day of the month so if you are like me and have been sitting on some "free" auctions in your eBay account you better go ahead and use them. This is also the last day of Q3 for that matter. I have been busy pushing out hundreds of live auctions that you can see through this link.
As you can see below I've updated the TOR calendar to reflect many more TORs scheduled this season. Be on the lookout soon for a big announcement regarding a show that is making a comeback.
