All these years of publishing the Hot Finds and now I truly understand why the lot pictured to the right (and similar ones) always have a lot of bids. I myself made my first trip to the Mecklenburg County Scout Shop this week to buy the exact same things. Even with all the collectibles I've got in the "patch cave" the Tiger Cub essentials were not among them.
Vintage eBay Boy Scout Auctions This Weekend
It would be fair to say that trade-o-ree season is in full bloom with a number of shows this weekend. The Friday edition of the newsletter always includes a calendar at the end with links to all the show flyers. For my part I am trying to attend about 1 show per month. This month (next weekend!) I'll be going to the Girl Scout collectors show in North Carolina. In October I'll be at the Columbus, Ohio TOR riding up with Chris Jensen and friends in the new patch tradin' bus.
It was a lot of fun running the free sweepstakes on the unusual 12 Inch Eagle Scout medal that I got in a collection. Tuesday night it closed and the software randomly picked the winner. I've never met Mimi Paez but she is now the lucky owner of the medal and I'm shipping it out to her. I appreciate everyone who took part and put their names in.
Auctions ending Friday and Saturday on eBay
I got a first flap in the mail this week from the new lodge #34 thanks to the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group. A lot of collectors offer things there "off eBay" and you can snag up a good deal rather than bidding against your friends. I offer up things many times a week on the group and love the wheeling and dealing. Its the closest thing the hobby has a 24/7 trade-o-ree.
The Wood Badge beads below prompt a good question for the feedback. This weekend I'm assembling my new Tiger Den leaders uniform. Should I keep it simple and just wear a few knots like my Arrow of Light and Eagle? Or do I include the knots for other awards and accomplishments (I think 7 in all). Also since I have not joined the local lodge at this time do I wear a flap from my home lodge?
I don't know if I can keep the momentum up but right now I've got well over 150 live auctions running on eBay. Yesterday, I organized a big collection from Lodge 70 that I purchased and got several dozen new items put up in my eBay store. If you collect that lodge or are interested check out what I launched from 70 Tsoiotsi Tsogalii.
