There are about 10 more days left for collectors to get in on the OA activity patch blind trade that I'm organizing. If you've never thought about taking part in a blind trade I'd like to explain how it works and again ask you to consider taking part.
Vintage eBay Boy Scout Auctions This Weekend
I think blind trades are helpful because many of us are geographically in a bubble when it comes to trading. In a typical year for example I'm only going to go to a few Scouting events and or TORs in maybe a 2-3 state region. So if I have duplicate patches from my OA lodge chances are people in my area have already seen them.
So the beauty of a blind trade is you send in patches that typically you have duplicates of and the organizer makes sure you get back all different patches. So hypothetically if you had 10 patches from your lodge box that you got extras on here is what you could do. Send in 5 of each patch (50 total) and get back 50 different patches from all across the nation. This is a great way to shuffle up your trading box.
At this point I have 19 collectors who have expressed an interest in taking part and several have already mailed in their packages. The more the merrier as the math works out that there will always be an ample amount of patches to shuffle to make sure everyone gets back new cloth. If you want to take part simply reply to this email and I'll send you the guidelines..
I'm running two big sales in my eBay store right now. The first is a 50% off sale on almost 200 JSPs and sets. I've also got a 35% off sale running in my category for Santee 116. Both of these sales have already seen collectors start snatching up the bargains so I hope you'll take a look.
Last night I sorted patches while listening to the candidates duke it out in Detroit. The big collection I got in is not sorted and I'll start taking pictures this weekend. It's possible that by Tuesday I'll be ready to post some of it for sale in my Facebook Store. There are over 2,000 patches in this collection so it is going to be exciting to bring all these to market.
