Last night I talked on the phone with my partner for this weekend's patch trading class and got some details ironed out. During the class I'm going to post some patches for trade in the Facebook Group and show the boys how easy it is to do. So if your on Facebook around 1 PM Saturday look for my post and consider responding.
Vintage eBay Boy Scout Auctions This Weekend
The 21 square merit badges on the sash below are wonderful but there is a little mix of tragedy there. The Eagle Medal looks like it just rotted away (or a dog took a bite out of it). Lots of good vintage picks here including a cool 1950s Sea Scout Ship patch.
I'm looking at a collection and in talking to the guy on the phone his dad had a $1,000 flap. Sadly in doing some research I had to share with him that recent sales suggest it's a $250-$300 flap at best. It's possible the family legend was a bit like a fish story or the piece has just declined in value.
The really cool thing about the collection I'm looking at is that it's got nearly 100 vintage event and conclave pieces. I've actually got a small collection of pre-1972 OA conclaves so I'll be keeping some of those if it all works out.
When I get to the lodge store this weekend I should be able to get the last piece of our 5-piece activity patch set for 2015. All put together it makes a puzzle patch set that measures over 15" across. Nice!
One of the cool things we are doing during the class is giving the boys their own patch notebook and outfitting them with plastic pages. I've got 4 bankers boxes full of plastic pages I've recycled from collections over the years and this will be a great way to float them back into the hobby!
