Well tomorrow morning I'll be setting up a display at a Girl Scout Teen Camporee for the NC Coastal Pines Council headquartered in Raleigh. I've never been to one of these but my Scouts are looking forward to it and so am I. My knowledge on all the GSA history is pretty shallow but I do have some pretty cool stuff to set out that I think the girls will enjoy. Wish me luck!
Vintage eBay Boy Scout Auctions This Weekend
You can tell by those 1947 WJ patches there are some heavy hitters in today's issue of the Hot Finds. This has been a really good time for vintage pieces and I've been plugging them away in the newsletter.
I have a bit of a dilemma that many of you have faced. I want to organize my OA flap collection and put it in frames but these durn mergers just don't seem to ever end. I've thought maybe capping the collection at the end of 2015 (100th) might be a good stopping spot. Does anybody have a solution for this?
Because of all the stuff I've got up on the web I sometimes get questions from people wondering what stuff is worth. I had one of those yesterday and was happy to give the guy my appraisal of his grandfathers very small collection (less than 10 patches). He did have an interesting homemade patrol patch dated to the 1920s so it was a neat little collection.
Last night I got a bunch of Dixie Fellowship patches listed up on my eBay store including some of the really hard issues from the early 80s. I know it's a pretty specific collector that likes that southern OA but take a look if you have an interest.
I added 8 new TORs to the calendar that is always in the Friday issue of the newsletter. There are a couple of shows this weekend and just about every weekend through the Fall there is a show somewhere! I hope you are able to attend one of these.
