Wow! I mentioned in an earlier issue that you can buy Girl Scout cookies to support my daughter online for the first time ever this year. I sent the link to a reader and he bought 2 bases. Yum! If you haven't been hit up the cookies are $3.50/box and I have to get your name/email to send you a personal invitation email. Thanks!
Vintage eBay Boy Scout Auctions This Weekend
I've got a couple of old Dixie patches in there today. I think that 1961 is a pretty tough piece to get! I've got a nice frame of dupes that I carry to shows around the region and I always have people trying to haggle me down on my prices. What does that tell you?
There are some nice little OA lots ending this weekend. I'm counting down the days to the monster NOAC TOR. I've started sorting out my stuff for the show and coming up with a big bag of traders to take for a little blanket trading.
The old blue Air Scout merit badges were popular with the boys back in the 1940's and they are certainly popular today with memorabilia collectors. If you go back and read the literature these badges were a major part of the advancement program for Air Scouts.
I worked on my antique booth at the Palmetto Peddlers in Florence, SC yesterday. I think I've got it 95% done. I'm going to add patches to the center table including lots of CSPs, rank and position patches and other less expensive patches. I'm even trying out a $1 tub at an antique mall. I spoke to the owner before trying that trick and she seemed ok with it. We will see how it goes. I just wrapped up my first month there and after paying my booth rent I pocketed a check for $60. Definitely not a financially successful venture yet since I invested probably $1,000 in building all the shelves and racks. However, as I told a friend of mine on the phone yesterday it felt like I was building a small Scout museum in a 10x10 booth so I'm happy with it.
