The Multicultural Northwest

This Month of July, we want to celebrate the multicultural outreach of Converge Northwest.

This past weekend I had the privilege to participate in our Converge Viet National Conference, held at our new Hope Vietnamese Baptist Church in Portland. We had over 300 Vietnamese believers who gathered to learn and grow in unity. They came from Virginia to California. It was exciting to hear how our Viet ministries have grown from 16 to 22 ministries, this past year.

Here in the northwest we have a large Vietnamese population, with over 30,000 in the Portland area and over 60,000 in the greater Seattle area. We have four Viet churches in Portland and are still looking to plant in the Seattle area. There is a lot of work to do.

Will you please pray for more Viet leaders and workers in the northwest? (Matt 9:37-38).

I serve on the Vietnamese Ministry Expansion Team and we are excited about the direction and focus on our Viet ministries.

People ask me "Why Converge?" One answer I give is: "We are culturally diverse." I invite you to join in the work of Converge Northwest. We are better together!

1. Ian Smith - Ian has raised his support to start work in Japan. We will hold a commissioning service for him August 9th at Turning Point Church in Lacey, WA. If you would like more details, please contact our office.

2. CWW Presidential Search - Please pray for the whole search team, including DEM Steve Welling, as they discern God's leading for our next Converge President.

3. Church Planting Assessment - We will hold our first northwest Converge Church Planting Assessment Center in Monroe, November 4-7. Pray for more candidates to be assessed and assessors.

4. Annual Meeting - Our 125th meeting will be held at Bethany Baptist in Puyallup, October 24-25. May God grant us the ability to use 125 years of history as a foundation for stronger and deeper ministry in the northwest.

5. Steve's speaking opportunities - May God use His Word to encourage and equip our churches for more starting and strengthening.
