CONVERGE NORTHWEST UPDATE
March 17, 2014

"Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name;
    make known among the nations what He has done."  Ps. 105:1

Dear Ones:
I continue to collect your stories to share in our weekly communications in order to praise our Lord and proclaim His mighty works.  So, please feel free to e-mail me a paragraph or two about what God is doing in and through your church!

From Roy Peacock, Pastor of Raging River Community Church:
"After responding to an invitation I sent Kevin through www.flockfinder.com, he showed up the following Sunday. He recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest from North Carolina where he recently graduated from college earlier in the year. He showed up the following Sunday, too. Additionally, he stayed for our quarterly membership meeting, too. After the meeting was over, he approached me and asked, "What would it take to be part of the youth group at this church?" My initial response was, "First, you need to be here more than two Sundays." However, we took the time to discuss his interest. I encouraged him to pray about this opportunity and we would discuss it further.

A few weeks later, his fiance' moved west and shortly thereafter visited the church, too. They became increasingly involved with various ministry opportunities in the church. Kevin and Jen eventually got married and we continued our dialog about his involvement in the youth group. I suggested they wait one year before considering stepping into youth ministry. However, just prior to the one year mark, I approached Kevin and asked him, "Are you still interested in serving in the youth group?" He quickly responded with a resounding, "Yes!"

Kevin and I began meeting together weekly to discuss important issues like: theology, goals, vision, leadership, and various other topics. After six months of meeting, with a plan in hand, vision in his mind, and willingness in is heart, he stepped into being our volunteer youth leader.

It has now been eighteen months since he started serving and God has used him in powerful ways in the life of our young people. All of the young people are middle school students from unchurched homes in our community and each of the eleven students has either committed their lives to Jesus or rededicated their lives to Him in that time frame. This has allowed folks from our church to further minister into the lives of these young people's families.

To God Be the Glory, Great Things He Has Done!"  ~ Roy
