CONVERGE NORTHWEST UPDATE
February 12, 2014

Our God is working...

"Lord, I have heard of your fame;  I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.  Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known..."  Habakkuk 3:2

Last week I extended the invitation to everyone that considers themselves a part of the Converge Northwest TEAM, to write to me and share stories of how God is working in our churches - so that we can cheer each other on and start a tidal WAVE of praise to our LORD.   I was so excited to hear from a few of you!   As we read the stories below and in the weeks to come, I pray our Lord stirs our hearts toward love and good deeds for the purpose of making the Name of JESUS and His Mighty Works famous in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.                    ~ Kim ~

Our is God working...at Northshore Baptist Church

On Super Bowl Sunday, Northshore Baptist Church ("NSB") did a special service called Super Sunday during their 9 & 11 am services. They brought in a worship band from Northwest University called Crossing, and then Jonathan Wolfgang (one of NSB's teaching pastors) and Jonathan Alexander (Senior Pastor) faced off in the "Super Bowl of Preaching" as they tried to one-up each other for 4 quarters with underdog stories from the Bible...Jesus being the greatest underdog story of all time!  CLICK HERE for a video NSB used to promote Super Sunday.

In addition, NSB challenged their people to host Super Bowl parties in their neighborhoods. They provided "Game Day Bags" with resources and fun Super Bowl theme party supplies. 122 individuals/families committed to having a Super Bowl party to reach out to their neighbors. Here's another LINK to see a video of how they promoted their Super Bowl Parties!

Our God is Working... at Wits' End Church

Living with the church calendar has brought a steady rhythm to the work of God at Wits' End Church in North Seattle.  It is no accident that as Advent has traditionally focused on the anticipation of God's timing, many in our community have found themselves in a state of transition and flux. The Kingdom of God has a way of turning everything on its head, after all!

And as we have entered the New Year, and entered into the season of Epiphany, the light of Christ has been evident in our community.  Many in our church have had reasons to celebrate, from new births to new staff members to new housing and jobs; the light of Epiphany is guiding us as a community together into the celebration of a God who is revealing himself to us always.
~ Phil Nellis, Pastor
