As a state, California is the most expensive in the nation for workers’ compensation.
But there’s more to the story – the Los Angeles region differs greatly from the rest of California. Los Angeles has a much higher rate of claims and higher incidence of more complicated, litigated claims with more severe disabilities than the rest of California.
That’s part of the reason why California’s state workers’ comp system is so expensive, and why Los Angeles-area employers pay as much as 20% more for workers’ compensation than elsewhere in California. It’s also why public agencies in the region are struggling with the impacts of workers’ compensation claims on local budgets.
How does the Los Angeles area differ from the rest of California?
