Find Out How...
As some of you have noticed, we took a few months off from recording our educational Pocasts due to some late night time in the product development labs.

Well, we're back and we have two new and exciting videos for your viewing.

Podcast 5.2 shows you how to add run-times to the face of your Cognos reports, and Podcast 5.1 highlights some of the new features in MetaManager 5.1 (pure coincidence in the numbering!).

Greetings!

This month's Chronicles focus on location intelligence, presenting old school, traditional and mobile methods. How are you using location intelligence to solve your business requirements?  Contact us and let us know!
Old School Location Intelligence: GEOCACHING
GEOCACHING is a free real-world outdoor treasure hunt. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using a smartphone or GPS and can then share their experiences online.

On July 14, 2009 we hid a BSP Coin, which are traditionally given out to BSP colleagues that go far and above the call of duty each month. The silver coin was placed in Merlin's Field of Dreams in NJ with a destination of Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs!

Over the years it's traveled thousands of miles before reaching its destination on March 31, 2013!  Relive the travel of our BSP Coin.
Avnet Tech Games Winners Announced
Facing a tight job market, today's college students need every possible advantage. Although they say it's not what you know, but whom you know, the Avnet Tech Games seek to give college students the best of both worlds by participating in this annual event.

The Avnet Tech Games (ATG) is an annual college technology competition that provides students with an opportunity to apply what they learn in school to real-world scenarios and compete for scholarships. Students compete in teams and each winning team member is eligible to receive a scholarship.

We were thrilled to be among the judges in this years event, judging the Accenture Green Data Room challenge and discussing how innovation and hard work leads to success.

Cognos Mobile Location Aware Reports
By Ted Johnson, Consultant

IBM Cognos Mobile extends the capabilities of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence and includes a broad range of mobile devices such as Apple's iPhone and iPad, Android phones as well as BlackBerry and Playbook.

The IBM Cognos Mobile Rich Client allows users to view and fully interact with reports, dashboards, metrics, analysis and other information in a secure environment regardless of location.

By utilizing location-aware report filters, the report data can be based on the user's current location as determined by the mobile devices Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates.

Using Geoset Manager for Multi-Layer Maps
By Ted Reilly, Consultant

Often Maps are used within Cognos but the ability to generate multiple levels to a map is not understood and the idea is often abandoned.

Geoset Manager is a tool that is included in every Cognos install and allows you to generate maps like the one described in this article.

Fun facts about the month of April

No one knows for certain how April got its name, but it may have come from the Latin word 'aperire', which means 'to open'. April is, after all, the month when the northern hemisphere buds begin to open and things start to grow again after the winter.

April begins with a day of fun and jokes - April Fool's Day. No one really knows when the custom began, but it has been kept for hundreds of years.

The arrival of the cuckoo is the signal that spring has come. It arrives some time in mid-April.
