Why Does the Square Matter?
Welcome Back, Scoop Fans!
Hooray, the snow is finally melting! It's so nice to see so many people out and about in the Square these days now that the wicked winter is behind us. More dog walkers, babies in strollers, and joggers have been spotted this week than we've seen in months! Three cheers for spring!  Check out all that's going on in the Square this month. Thanks for supporting the small businesses in the Square and around town!

News Circling the Square

DFM at dusk Farmers Market News - Believe it or not opening day of the Dedham Farmers Market is in just over 10 weeks! We've been busy behind-the-scenes making plans and lining up vendors for our 8th season.  We're happy to report that our three farms, MacArthur, Freitas and Neighborhood, have all confirmed they will be returning this season along with Jordan's Seafood and many of your favorite specialty food vendors! We're excited to announce some new additions as well. More details soon!

Hats Off - Congratulations to Salem Food Market owner Fred Zagami on well-deserved recognition for providing free lunches to veterans on the first Tuesday of every month. Boston Globe columnist Bella English wrote a glowing article on him in the March 22 issue of The Boston Globe's South Weekly section. Fred spent eight years in the Army National Guard. Such a nice way to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our country.

easter eggs 2 No Go Because of the Snow - Sadly the Annual Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for today at the Dedham Community House will not be held this year as the field behind DCH is still covered with snow. Only in New England!

Local Alternative to Student Loans
These days, government-sponsored student loan programs can appear to be the best option, but in fact their interest rates often approach 12%. As an alternative, many parents have begun using a home equity line of credit (HELOC) from Need-ham Bank to cover collegiate expenses. As always, please consult a financial advisor before making any decisions, but when you're ready to discuss this alternative to student loans, please call Tim Day at 781-474-5850. Member FDIC, Member SIF, Equal Housing Lender.
