Knit Wits - The main branch of the Dedham Public Library will host a beginners crochet class on Mon. March 16 from 6-8 pm and a beginners knitting class on Mon., March 30 from 6-8 pm. Classes are open to the first 10 participants ages 12 years and over. Registration recommended but not required. Supplies will be provided. Call 781-751-9287 for more info.
Craft 'n Chat! Do you knit, crochet or do needlepoint? If so, head to the library's main branch on Wednesday nights from 6-7 pm. Bring your craft and sit and chat with other crafters.
Author Visits - Novelist Mary Pat Kelly will visit The Blue Bunny on Mon. March 16 at 7 pm to speak about her new book (a novel for adults) Of Irish Blood, a historical novel about an young Irish woman in 1903, who joins the struggle to free Ireland (this events is for adults). On Sat. March 28 Cynthia Lord visits at 11 am for a book signing and Q & A for her middle grade novel Rules about a young girl growing up with a brother who has autism.
Up for the Challenge - The Dedham Square Artist Guild's Artist Challenge "Neverland" will be on display at the Dedham Community Theatre through the end of the month. This challenge is a collaboration between the Guild and The Parish Players, the local multi-generational theatre company affiliated with First Church of Dedham which will perform their rendition of "Peter Pan" March 27-29th. In the Middle - The newly revamped Middle School Nights, run by Dedham Community House and the West Roxbury YMCA in conjunction with the Dedham Youth Commission, are held one Friday night a month. This program is for 6th-8th graders and gives them an opportunity to meet and hang out with local peers while enjoying their choice of a variety of activities including game shows, basketball, crafts, foosball, karaoke, ping pong, dancing, music, photo booths and more Special events provided by the Youth Commission each night. Supervised by DCH and YMCA staff. Cost: $5. Next one will be held Fri. March 27 from 6-10 pm.
FUNdraiser - The Dedham Community House Preschool is holding its annual FUNdraiser on Sat. March 28 in the DCH Gymnasium. Arts & crafts, face painting, and live entertainment from Imagine and Move.
Bedtime Storytime - Catching Joy will host a special PJ Storytime on Fri. March 27 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at The Blue Bunny. Author Anna Staniszewski will share her new bedtime picture book Power Down, Little Robot! Craft includes making paper robots.
