In the loop - YIM     

In this newsletter edition of 'In the Loop' we turn the spot light on research focused on Youth Initiated Mentoring (YIM) - a novel approach to mentoring in which youth select mentors from the community of adults who are already part of their social networks. The concept builds on the emotional bond between an adult and a young person which drives the positive effects of a mentoring relationship. Australian Youth Mentoring Conference

The 2014 Australian Youth Mentoring Conference, which will take place 30 June - 1 July in Fremantle, WA. We are pleased to confirm Dr Michael Karcher, co-editor of the Youth Mentoring Handbook; Dr Tim Cavell, co-author of the Youth Mentoring Handbook; Professor Colleen Hayward; Associate Professor Judy MacCallum and Dr Lance Emerson, CEO ARACY as keynote speakers. Conference registration is now open, as is the call abstracts so if you have something you'd like to share with the mentoring community please

As part of the Australian Youth Mentoring Network's commitment to building a national mentoring community we host a series of networking forums which are designed to provide both a professional development opportunity for practitioners and an opportunity for organisations to network and form the basis of an ongoing local network.
