It's a challenge that leaders of volunteer based organisations have always faced: how to retain productive volunteers. True, some turnover is expected and even projected; however, sometime good volunteers are lost because of exceedingly preventable reasons. In addition to general retention issues, burnout is often cited as a reason for volunteer attrition. Volunteer managers would benefit from understanding the causes of burnout; ways to mitigate and prevent burnout; and how to identify burnout in their unpaid staff members. This study examines predictors of volunteers' intent to quit, specifically the role of burnout in volunteers' experiences. Read more

NRGize Perth
|
Registrations for NRGize Perth are now open for Western Australian mentoring programs. The NRGize Workshop will be held on 21-22 October 2013.
NRGize is a two day workshop designed to provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to run a successful youth mentoring program.
Subsidies are also available for WA programs with transport costs of greater than $400.

Healthy Mentoring Programs
| As with all social programs, the stability and strength of a mentoring program is determined at least in part by the character of the organisation implementing it. There are a number of core organisational features that are crucial to ensure that a program is well managed and financially stable. When considering funding for an organisation that provides mentoring services, grant-makers should start by asking 10 basic sets of questions.
