Since 2006, when AYMN was founded we have grown on multiple fronts. We now count approximately 250 organisations as registered members; we have a biannual national conference, a set of regularly reviewed and updated national benchmarks, we are working with state governments to develop and implement mentoring frameworks and we have delivered a series of mentor program specific factsheets, training courses and networking opportunities. This is all great news, and demonstrates that we are a thriving professional network.
However, all of our successes mean that resource demands are growing at a time when our current and sole funding arrangement is coming to an end, and a guarantee of forward funding is not in place. In light of this situation, in a recent member survey I asked the difficult question regarding your willingness to pay a membership fee to access the AYMN materials. ' Mentoring Worx' launched in WA

Congratulations to the WA Youth Mentoring Reform Group and the WA Department for Communities on the launch of Mentoring Worx, a suite of resources developed to help deliver quality training for mentors and professional development for staff.

The Research Quarterly is Back! | The Research Quarterly is back and we've just released the Autumn 2013 edition. This issue spotlights and asks whether mentoring is worth the investment. We also look at the impact of mentoring on mental health outcomes for children in foster care, mentoring experiences and outcomes for youth with different risk profiles, whether mentoring reduces risk for siblings of gang members and the influence of meeting time on academic outcomes.

Join the Million Dollar Challenge

We are launching a challenge in July this year called the Million Dollar Challenge. The challenge will see a host of teams from across Australia compete head-to-head to turn seed funding of $1,500 into a profit of $5,000 over the course of six months.

New Funding | |
Funding is now available under Volunteer Grants 2013. These grants recognise the valuable work of Australia's volunteers. This initiative forms part of the Australian Government's ongoing commitment to organisations whose volunteers assist disadvantaged communities and encourage inclusion of vulnerable people in community life.
Grants between $1,000 to $5,000 are available to support and encourage volunteering.
