Troop Leaders: Renew Your Girls Before They Fall off your Troop Roster!
September 29th is the last day you will be able to renew your troop members online using the MY TROOPS tab. After that, all girls and adults whose membership has expired will fall off your troop roster.

Spring Membership Renewal Patch Distribution
All girls and leaders who registered by June 30th will receive their 2014-2015 membership renewal patches in September-October. The patches are distributed to troop leaders through their service unit meetings. Girl Scout Independents (aka GSI's) will receive theirs in the mail.


Provide Your Input to the GSOC National Delegation

The Girl Scouts of Orange County National Delegation is gathering feedback from GSOC Girl Scouts on the National Council discussion topic: Importance of the Outdoors in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.   To have your voice heard, complete the National Convention survey.

 

National Philanthropy Day: Who's Your Philanthropic Idol?

Who is your philanthropic idol? Participate in AFP's Who is Your Philanthropic Idol? contest in celebration of National Philanthropy Day! Submit a short (one-minute) video of yourself to to the NPD website by Oct 7, talking about your philanthropic idol and how your idol inspires you to get involved. The top five most popular videos (as determined by public vote) earn the submitters $500 each for their favorite charity.

Life-changing events can impact planning, and seven out of ten baby boomer wives are expected to outlive their husbands. Join us and get informed today, before there is a crisis.

Open House Change Challenge
If you're planning on coming to the Open House, be sure to bring your spare change for the Change Challenge! Drop your change in your Girl Scout level's "giving tube" and we'll see who can fill their tube the highest! All contributions will support Girl Scouts in Orange County through the Fund Her Success campaign

Alumnae Planning Meeting
You spoke, we listened and now it's time to plan! With the Alumnae Strategy Cafe and online survey results, we heard what types of activities local alumnae are interested in. Now, we will host two planning sessions: one to plan an alumnae weekend at Camp Scherman, and the other to plan local alumnae events. Join us for one or both planning meetings on Sept 30. Light refreshments will be served RSVP here

It's Troop Fall Product Training Time!

ALL Troops are invited to participate in the Fall Product Program. Earn funds for your fall activities while teaching girls new skills. New products (nuts, magazines & photo keepsakes) as well as new options including our all online quickstart. Register for Troop Product Manager in class training or take our online training. Remember, Girl Scout troops must participate in both the fall and cookie programs before requesting permission for any additional money-earning activities.

Did you know that the average family orders 6 magazine subscriptions each year? Girl Scouts  earn a portion of the proceeds if you order or renew your favorite magazines from your favorite Girl Scout. Find out more about our Fall Product Program, which begins October 5.

 

Order NEW Gluten Free Cookies Before It's Too Late!

Troops interested in participating in our Gluten Free Girl Scout Cookie Pilot must order cookies by Sept. 21. This is a brand new cookie called Trios! Yummy chocolate chips nestled in a Peanut Butter Oatmeal cookie! Quantities VERY LIMITED so don't miss out!

"The Girl Scout Way" Video Contest Take 1, Scene 5   Everyone

There's no better time than "Back to Troop" to record and share Girl Scout adventures! Through "The Girl Scout Way Video Contest," we've seen individual and troop entries representing the talents of Daisies through Ambassadors! Submit your entry by Oct 31 - the winner gets a hands-on tour of a video production studio!

Scouting for Food at Open House - Sept. 20   Everyone

Planning on attending Open House? Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of OC invite you to participate in Scouting for Food 2014 by bringing non-perishable food items with you to Open House. Join this community service opportunity and help feed thousands of people!

STEM Inventor Series with A Hundred Tiny Hands - starts Oct. 4   Junior

In the 4 session series, girls will "play science" with 3 Inventor Toolboxes, and A Hundred Tiny Hands members will teach girls about science and engineering. By the 4th session, girls will become inventors to develop their own Inventor Toolbox. Learn more about a Hundred Tiny Hands by watching this video.

 

Cadette-O-Rama - Oct 10-12   Cadette

Get ready to act out your favorite movie, or dress up as your favorite actress.  Whether you're a fan of the classic tinsel town or the glittery Hollywood era you won't want to miss this annual outdoor skills weekend camping event for Girl Scout Cadettes.

Cadette-O-Rama Lookie Loos - Oct 11   Junior

Girl Scout Juniors are invited to see this spectacular event firsthand so they will be prepared for next year! The theme of Cadette-O-Rama this year is Welcome to Hollywood. After this fun event, girls will have time to visit the campsites and see how the Cadette Girl Scouts put this creative theme to use.  

 

Cadette-O-Rama Red Hats   Senior Ambassador

We have many positions available for "Red Hats" (9th-12th graders) to staff Cadette-O-Rama. Staff positions are open to individual girls, girls may apply alone or with troopmates. Leaders and/or parents are not required to apply or attend, and adults who apply as Cadette-O-Rama staff will only be accepted if space is available. Responsibilities will include working at the Friday & Saturday night activities, judging the skill and fun events on Saturday, and working as a team with other Red Hats and staff members to make the event run smoothly. 

 

Leadership in Action Livestream Event - Oct. 18  Cadette Senior Ambassador Volunteer

Tune in to the Girl Scout National Convention in Salt Lake City for this virtual session! Girl Scouts are encouraged to group together for this livestream and be a part of the convention from the comfort of your own home! Get some sample discussion questions and find out how it relates to the Journey you are doing on page 2 of the flyer!
