Troop Leaders: Renew Your Girls Before They Fall off your Troop Roster!

The deadline to renew your Troop using My Troops in eBiz is is 9 p.m. September 29. On Sept. 30 troop leaders will not be able to access My Troops using eBiz. Individuals will still be able to renew their family members online after Sept 30.

 

Cookie Rally Volunteer Meeting- Sept. 11

Come find out how you can be involved at our Cookie Rally Committee meeting this Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6:30pm at GSOC Headquarters in Irvine. Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors and adults are invited to help plan and run activity booths on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the UCI Bren Center. If you can't attend, contact rsussman@girlscoutsoc.org for details.

 

Order Gluten Free Cookies Before It's Too Late!

Troops interested in participating in our Gluten Free Girl Scout Cookie Pilot must order cookies by Sept. 21 to receive cookies in January. Order Gluten Free Cookies today!

 

Earn Service Hours at Open House

Troop Product Manager Training Begins Sept 15

Learn everything you need to know to guide a troop in the Fall Product Program which begins on Oct. 5. Register for a classroom training or complete online training by Sept. 25. 

Camp Lost & Found

If you lost an item at Camp Scherman and did not complete a lost and found form at bus pickup, email kdougherty@girlscoutsoc.org. Program Department will contact you if your item has been found. Please contact by September 17, 2014 at 6:00pm. All unclaimed items will be donated after that time.

Anaheim Ducks Scout Nights   Everyone

Anaheim Ducks present special Scout offer! Join the Anaheim Ducks Street Team and enjoy Street Hockey, the Bounce House, the Kids Club Booth, the Ducks Truck, music and more! Open to all Ducks fans. All scouts earn a free Anaheim Ducks Scout patch!

 

Healthy Habits Booklets

Using the free Healthy Habits Journeys companion booklets, it's easy to find fun, practical ways to bring healthy living into the scouting experience for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. The booklets contain tips and activities that correspond to the "It's Your Planet - Love it!" Journeys which help girls develop a strong foundation for an active, healthy lifestyle. They are free to download and available in Spanish too!

Do you have a special interest in wildlife? Invite a Wolf Haven representative to your troop meeting to hear fascinating facts and get the real story about wolves. This is a great addition to the 3 Cheers for Animals journey, Animal Habitats badge, and more!

High Adventure Guidelines   Brownie Junior Cadette Senior Ambassador Volunteer

Girl Scouts of Orange County defines High Adventure as any activity which requires special training and/or safety equipment for girls and adults. Be sure to complete the application with these guidelines when planning an activity such as kayaking, horseback riding, or other activity which requires special training or equipment. Check the guidelines for an activity list to get you started. 

STEM Inventor Series with A Hundred Tiny Hands  - Starts Oct 4   Junior

In the 4 session series, girls will "play science" with our 3 Inventor Toolboxes, and A Hundred Tiny Hands members will teach girls about science and engineering. By the 4th session, girls will become inventors to develop their own Inventor Toolbox.

Mission Viejo Inner Coastal Clean-up - Sept 20   Everyone

Enter the Scouting for Food Patch Design Contest for a chance to have your artwork on the 2014 event patch!

Register early & kick off your Girl Scout Fall Season at Irvine Park Railroad Station. Bring your camera and join the family fun for great photo ops during the Hay Ride, Hay Maze and Haunted House. Service Opportunity also available supporting OC Animal Care! 

  

MEdia Journey Series - Starts Nov 9   Cadette

Cadettes look for the ME in media and learn how they can shape media-for themselves, their community and the world.

Understanding the Native American - Nov. 22   Brownie Junior  

Girls will create art inspired by local Native American art and taste some Native American delicacies. The culmination of the workshop will have the group enjoying an authentic Pow-Wow!

  Camp Scherman

Don't forget that you can use your cookie dough to pay for camp. Come up and experience camp as a troop during a weekend camp or for your own adventure during a weekend camp with you and your parent. 

During all weekend camps all campers must be accompanied by troop leaders and or parents for the duration of the weekend.

Whether you are new to camp, or you are a weekend camp warrior, unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman. Hang out on the lake or at the museum. You get to create your schedule of activities, be as busy or relaxed as you like. We hope our annual event has helped launch a great Girl Scout year for you! There were lots of new ideas, resources, and exhibitors to help expand your troop's offerings. Just in case you'd like copies of handouts or copies of a presentation from one of your sessions, we've uploaded those provided to the Volunteer Network. Interested in Learning Skills needed for Cadette-O-Rama in October?

Come to our Outdoor Skills Day on September 27th at Irvine Headquarters to learn Maps, Compass, Knots and Lashing and prepare your troop to compete and have fun!  Sign up for Knots and Lashing in the morning from 9-12 and/or Maps and Compass in the afternoon from 1-4. Please bring your own lunch. Any adults attending must have already taken Volunteer Essentials. Girls are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.  Please register each adult and girl online.
