Complete New TAA form Today!

The new online Troop ACH Authorization (TAA) form is now active. Every troop must complete a new form annually, even if the troop has completed the form previously or is not participating in Fall Product or Cookie programs. This procedure change is part of the updated Troop Financial Guidelines.  Troops also complete a new TAA form whenever there is a change to the troop's banking information, including a change in signers. The online TAA form requires troops to upload a copy of a voided check to complete the form. 

 

Troops Order Gluten Free GS Cookies

GSOC is participating in a special Gluten Free Pilot to sell Trios Girl Scout cookies, a chocolate chip gluten free peanut butter oatmeal cookie.  Troops interested in participating in our pilot must order cookies by Sunday, Sept. 21.  Gluten Free cookies cannot be ordered through Snap, but WILL count towards girl rewards & troop proceeds!  For details visit www.gscookiesetc.org/cookies/gf-pilot/.

STEM Tips for Adults  Volunteer

The Girl Scout Research Institute found that 74% of teen girls are interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects and the general field of study, yet women account for about only 20% of the bachelor's degrees in engineering, computer science, and physics. Here are some  tips for adults to help keep your girls engaged and interested in STEM. 

 

Mother Nature Walking Tours   Everyone

Free walking tours through 2014 for all Girl Scouts! Take a guided tour of Santiago Oaks Regional Park in Orange as you work on a Naturalist Badge covering the indigenous Tongva history & culture while learning about Orange County's environment, plants, and animals.

Race for the Cure GSOC Team - Sept. 28   Everyone

Join the Girl Scouts of OC Team #1538 at the 23rd Annual Orange County Race for the Cure 5K! GSOC Team participants will receive a team T-shirt, health and fitness expo access, and a mini brunch.

 

Save the Date! Scouting for Food - Nov 8   Everyone

Join in as Girl Scouts of Orange County and Orange County Boy Scouts of America collaborate in this annual all ages food collection service project serving Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Learn more about how Scouts unite to feed the hungry @ Scouts Unite.

  Camp Scherman

Don't forget that you can use your cookie dough to pay for camp. Come up and experience camp as a troop during a weekend camp or for your own adventure during a weekend camp with you and your parent. 
 

Is your camper going up to camp? We are looking for a few good (adult) chaperones to ride the bus up and back with the campers. Volunteer chaperones will receive an exclusive Camp Scherman shirt and enjoy lunch at camp.  Dates: August 8, August 11, August 15

2014 WEEKEND CAMPS

Weekend Camps will be offered now through the summer!  Sign up as a troop or as a parent-child pair.  Registration is now open for Weekend Camps through Dec 2014!  Click here for a complete listing and more information on all weekend camps.

 

Family Camp - Aug 29- Sept 1   Everyone

Enjoy a unique and relaxing weekend camp experience with family and friends. Explore wide-open spaces and enjoy staff-planned nature and camp activities for all ages, including hiking, crafts, games, gardens, campfires, archery, and canoeing. Provide your own tent, RV or camper, or stay in one of our mountain cabins. Sign up for our weekend meal plan that includes seven meals, or bring a propane stove to prepare your own meals. No charge for children 4 and under! Register Now!

RV/Tent Camping Cost: $47 per person 

 

Create Your Weekend Camp-  Sept 5-7, Oct 3-5    Everyone
Whether you are new to camp, or you are a weekend camp warrior, unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman. Hang out on the lake or at the museum. You get to create your schedule of activities, be as busy or relaxed as you like. Playing games your thing? Like to run, dodge and capture the other teams flag? Spend time learning and playing new and exciting games and revisit some great games of the past, all while still enjoying the other programming options that are offered at camp ... Ready? 2014 SUMMER RESIDENT CAMPS

Did you know that if your camper is signed up for a specialty camp, she will still have every opportunity to participate in the same traditional camp activities at camp? Those activities include swimming in the pool, canoeing, archery, lots of singing, arts and crafts and so much more.

Troop 589 in Huntington Beach held an Agent of Change Journey workshop where they planned an awesome take action project focused on teaching water conservation to younger Girl Scouts through a fun video! The girls had a great time exploring their super powers, making superhero masks, learning to work as a team, guiding each other through a blind-folded obstacle course, and capped off the day with a dinner celebration.
