Renew Your Membership Before The Busy School Schedule Starts
The 2014-2015 membership year begins October 1st - so register you and your daughter today. The new school year is just around the corner- don't delay. Renew your family now so you don't miss out on another fun year of Girl Scouts! 

 

Volunteer to be a Fall Product or Cookie Cupboard!  

A Fall Nut Cupboard is needed in South Orange County.  Cookie Jars are also needed throughout the county.  A Jar/Cupboard is a volunteer who stores product/cookies in their garage and passes them out to troop volunteers.  No experience necessary, but must be able to use Excel.  Contact lnevares@GirlScoutsOC.org for more info.

 

Day Camp & SU Events - Reserve Recognition Display

Day Camp Directors and Event Coordinators are invited to reserve the 2014 Fall Product recognition display to share with their girls.  Be the first to get an up close look at this year's cool prizes!  Contact tjones@GirlScoutsOC.org to reserve for your group event.

 

Get Ready For Fall Product

Troops and Service Units should recruit volunteers now to be ready when the Fall Product program begins on Sun, Oct 5.  SU Training is Sat, Sept 6 and Troop training will be available beginning Sept 15. 

 

Calling All Girl Scout Alumnae!
If you're a Girl Scout Alumna, join us for an opportunity to participate in the collection of ideas on the direction of the new Alumnae Initiative. 2014 Girl Scout Convention

Have you heard? You don't need to be an official delegate to attend convention. Whether you're an alumna, volunteer, staff, or just a big believer in all the great things Girl Scouts do, you're invited to Girl Scouts' 53rd national convention in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 16-19, 2014.  Your chance to save big on a four-day pass ends July 15. Register at www.girlscouts.org/convention.

Get ready to act out your favorite movie, or dress up as your favorite actress.  Whether you're a fan of the classic tinsel town or the glittery Hollywood era you won't want to miss this annual outdoor skills weekend camping event for Girl Scout Cadettes.

Cadette-O-Rama Lookie Loos - Oct 11   Junior

Girl Scout Juniors are invited to see this spectacular event first-hand and enjoy skills and fun events set up just for you. You will also see Girl Scout Cadettes as they participate in this yearly "Cadette Only!" event.. After the event, you'll have time to visit the campsites and see how the Cadettes put this creative theme to use.

Don't forget that you can use your cookie dough to pay for camp. Come up and experience camp as a troop during a weekend camp or for your own adventure during a weekend camp with you and your parent. 
 

Is your camper going up to camp? We are looking for a few good (adult) chaperones to ride the bus up and back with the campers. Volunteer chaperones will receive an exclusive Camp Scherman shirt and enjoy lunch at camp.

2014 WEEKEND CAMPS

Weekend Camps will be offered now through the summer!  Sign up as a troop or as a parent-child pair.  Registration is now open for Weekend Camps through Dec 2014!  Click here for a complete listing and more information on all weekend camps.

 

Leader Daughter Weekend - Aug 1-3 Everyone  Leave your troop in the city for one-one-one fun with your daughter in the beautiful outdoors. Enjoy a weekend with your favorite Girl Scout. We do the cooking and planning so you don't have to. Canoe on the lake, take aim in archery, take a dip in the pool and much more. $135 per person.  Register Now!

 

Family Camp - Aug 29- Sept 1   Everyone

Enjoy a unique and relaxing weekend camp experience with family and friends. Explore wide-open spaces and enjoy staff-planned nature and camp activities for all ages, including hiking, crafts, games, gardens, campfires, archery, and canoeing. Provide your own tent, RV or camper, or stay in one of our mountain cabins. Sign up for our weekend meal plan that includes seven meals, or bring a propane stove to prepare your own meals. Create Your Weekend Camp-  Sept 5-7   Everyone
Whether you are new to camp, or you are a weekend camp warrior, unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman. Hang out on the lake or at the museum. Mom and Me Weekend Camp- Sept 5-7   Everyone

2014 SUMMER RESIDENT CAMPS

Did you know that if your camper is signed up for a specialty camp, she will still have every opportunity to participate in the same traditional camp activities at camp? Those activities include swimming in the pool, canoeing, archery, lots of singing, arts and crafts and so much more.

SUMMER CAMP SPOTLIGHTS:

 

Counselor in Training 2 - July 28-Aug 15
Continue to develop your leadership style and discover the challenges and rewards of being a camp counselor. Time will be spent on camp program planning, problem solving and strengthening interpersonal skills. CIT 1 is a perquisite for this program. For girls entering 11th and 12th grade. There is an application and interview process and there are limited spots available for those interested. Register Now! 

 

Camper Sampler- July 28-Aug 1

For girls entering grades 2-3

What will your little camper do this summer? Don't sit inside when you could be in the crystal clear mountain air! Whether you are new to camp or come every year, unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman with a little bit of everything - canoeing, archery, swimming, arts and crafts and more. Choose your own adventure and have a summer to remember!  Register Now!

 

Girls and Guitars- Aug 11-15 
For girls entering grades 6-10
Can you play riffs or strum in the key of G? Learn to play guitar to accompany popular camp songs. Join your fellow musicians for camp activities when you aren't strumming. If you have a guitar, please bring it, but it is not required.   Register Now!

 

The Science of Camp - Aug 11-15

For girls entering grades 4-6

Explore the wonders of science and the outdoors as you make and launch bottle rockets, experiment with slimey, oozey chemical reactions, perform an egg drop, and build catapults and marshmallow shooters. Have fun as you explore physics, chemistry, and engineering! Register Now! 

  Volunteer Training

Ready to Learn Orienting Skills?  

Join us on Thursday, July 17, from 6:30-9:30pm at the Anaheim Program Center for Maps and Compass where you'll learn how to use a compass, read maps and put your navigational skills to use in nature.  Girls are welcome (must be accompanied by an adult).  Questions?
