New This Year: Get Required Troop Leader Training at August Kickoff

Simply register to attend the August Kick Off on Aug 16, then choose:

  • Leader's Fast Track: Volunteer Essentials in Session 1
  • Leader's Fast Track: Daisy, Brownie Essentials or Leader's Fast Track: Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador Essentials (in-class breakouts will be by level) in Session 2
  • and Journeys . . . on the Road in Session 3!

Learn troop basics, meet other new leaders and get tips on teaching leadership to your girls through Journeys. You'll get great planning, inspiration, plus all the fun and energy of August Kick off!   Click here to browse all AKO classes

Renew you and your daughter by June 30thand your troop will have a chance to win some great

Next week! Please join us for a fond farewell celebration of the Neva B. Thomas Newport Beach Program Center! Stop by anytime during the open house hours- Fri. 6pm-9pm, Sat. 10am-4pm.

 

National Get Outdoors Day - June 14   Everyone

Join in this new annual event to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun and check out these awesome outdoor fun patches!

 

Environmental Study Loop at Crystal Cove State Park   Everyone

This beautiful new educational nature walk with field stations for learning and research highlight the natural surroundings of Moro Canyon wilderness in Laguna Beach. Come experience this loop for yourself and observe birds and other wildlife, learn about local history, monitor the wind & weather and more! 

 

Fashion Camp: Create.Design.Sew.   Everyone

Do you have a passion for fashion? Check out these cool programs with your troop or on your own. Girl Scout specific and general fashion workshops and sessions available. 

aMUSE Journey Series - July 7-11   Junior

Girl Scout Juniors will earn the Reach Out, Speak Out & Try Out awards as they gain  understanding of  the  many roles women and girls play and the leadership skills used to play them.

Don't forget that you can use your cookie dough to pay for camp. Come up and experience camp as a troop during a weekend camp or for your own adventure during a weekend camp with you and your parent.

Camp Nights- parents, volunteers and girls are invited to join us to meet camp staff, ask questions, and get more information about Camp Scherman. Camp Nights will be from 7:00-8:30 PM.  To register for a Camp Night and get directions, please email ejohnson@girlscoutsoc.org

Open House

Pack a lunch and bring the family up to camp for Camp Scherman Open House on June 22. Go on a camp tour, meet the staff, and sing a few songs while you walk around the property. 2014 WEEKEND CAMPS

Weekend Camps will be offered now through the summer!  Sign up as a troop or as a parent-child pair.  Registration is now open for Weekend Camps through Dec 2014!  Click here for a complete listing and more information on all weekend camps.

 

Leader Daughter Weekend - Aug 1-3   Leave your troop in the city for one-one-one fun with your daughter in the beautiful outdoors. Enjoy a weekend with your favorite Girl Scout. We do the cooking and planning so you don't have to. Canoe on the lake, take aim in archery, take a dip in the pool and much more. $135 per person.  Register Now!

 

Family Camp - Aug 29- Sept 1

Enjoy a unique and relaxing weekend camp experience with family and friends. Explore wide-open spaces and enjoy staff-planned nature and camp activities for all ages, including hiking, crafts, games, gardens, campfires, archery, and canoeing. Provide your own tent, RV or camper, or stay in one of our mountain cabins. Sign up for our weekend meal plan that includes seven meals, or bring a propane stove to prepare your own meals. No charge for children 4 and under! Register Now!

Cabin Cost: $57 per person 

RV/Tent Camping Cost: $47 per person

Picture This - July 28-Aug 1, Aug 11-15    For girls entering grades 4-6 

As you trek around camp, you will be inspired to take the perfect photographs of breathtaking landscapes, nature and your new camp friends. Upload your photos and learn to use editing software to create frame-worthy photos for your wall. Girls must provide their own digital camera.  Register Now!

 

Girls and Guitars- Aug 11-15 
For girls entering grades 6-10
Can you play riffs or strum in the key of G? Learn to play guitar to accompany popular camp songs. Join your fellow musicians for camp activities when you aren't strumming. If you have a guitar, please bring it, but it is not required.   Register Now!

 

The Science of Camp - Aug 11-15  
For girls entering grades 4-6
Explore the wonders of science and the outdoors as you canoe and kayak in the lake, or take aim at the archery range. Make and launch bottle rockets, experiment with slimey, oozey chemical reactions, perform an egg drop, and build catapults and marshmallow shooters. Have fun as you exploring the traditional camp activities and discovering physics, chemistry, and engineering!  Register Now!

  Volunteer Training 

Excited about Going for Gold? So Are We! Gold Award

Girls are invited to attend* our informative  Gold Award classes, along with their troop/group Volunteer! Next class is on Thursday, June 26th 6:30-9:30pm at Anaheim Program Center. Girls will learn the best way to select an issue, choose a Project Advisor and assemble her team, while the Troop/Group volunteer will learn how best to support her along the process. Both will learn key dates and the GSUSA Standards of Excellence that make the Girl Scout Gold Award the highest award in Girl Scouting!  Questions? Contact: Training@GirlScoutsOC.org.
